Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil , on September 18, 1969, Fabio Ribeiro showed musical interest from a very early age. Pushed by his parents, both music teachers, he began taking classical piano lessons in 1975, and graduated in 1986.In the early eighties, motivated to play along with other musicians, Fabio joined his first band, the instrumental progressive quartet Annubis. Ironically, the instrument the keyboardist joined that band with was not his set of black and whites, but the electric guitar. In 1985, Fabio started playing electronic keyboards, as well as piano and guitar. In that same year, he began his studies on electronic music, synthesizer programming and music technology. In early 1986, he quit his first group and founded with other musicians the fusion prog oriented band Desequilibrios, with which he continued to play until the early nineties and recorded an album by the same name.During that same period, he got involved with many music projects, recording and playing live with bands like A Chave do Sol, Overdose, Clavion, III Milenio, and Anjos da Noite. Soon after, he also started teaching music technology. His first solo project, the album Blezqi Zatsaz - Rise And Fall Of Passional Sanity, was released in 1991.In 1993, the keyboardist joined the first line up of the heavy metal band Angra, featuring on the very first concert of the group. At the same time, he began working as consultant, product specialist, and programmer for music companies like Korg and subsequently Kawai, Gulbransen, Music Systems Research and PianoDisc. For many years, he wrote articles on music and technology for specialized magazines.Between 1997 and 1999, the keyboardist also took part in many concerts and albums of the psychedelic progressive group Violeta de Outono.Fabio Ribeiro returned to play with Angra in 1999, for the Fireworks Tour. The band toured Brazil, Latin America and Europe. In 2000, the french label Musea reissued the album Blezqi Zatsaz - Rise and Fall Of Passional Sanity with bonus material. Other early albums featuring the keyboardist were re-released during that period as well.In 2001, he went working with Shaaman, a heavy metal group formed by ex members of Angra after the band’s first break up in 1999. Fabio took part as guest keyboardist on the band’s debut tour, in Brazil and worldwide, and on the recording of the first album - Ritual. The album was released in 16 countries and featured in top ten lists of specialized media all over the world. Between 2002 and 2004, the band toured many countries, for more than 200 concerts, culminating with an audience recordist concert at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo for the recording of the CD/DVD Shaaman - RituAlive, released by Universal Music. In 2002, the keyboardist released his second solo album, Blezqi Zatsaz - The Tide Turns. The album was released in Brazil, USA, and Europe. Also in 2002, The Brainless Brothers production and recording studio went into business. Many projects were developed in this studio since then, like Shaaman, Henceforth, Violeta de Outono, Headgear, Fuga, and most recently Andre Matos. In 2005, Fabio recorded with Shaaman its second studio album - Reason, and subsequently took part on the world tour, which lasted until May 2006.At this moment, Fabio is working in the music technology business, as consultant and product specialist for the swedish Clavia, manufacturer of the Nord keyboards. For more than a decade, he has been responsible for the brazilian versions of operation manuals for musical instruments and electronic devices of many companies like Clavia, Korg, Kawai, Mackie, Allen & Heath, Line6, Zoom, Digitech, Nady, etc. As a columnist for the specialized magazines Home Studio and Teclado & Piano, he writes articles on music software, musical instruments, and related material. Through The Brainless Brothers Studio, he offers full service in music production. Periodically, he also manages to organize classes and workshops on music technology and synthesizer programming.Fabio Ribeiro is also the keyboardist with the Andre Matos band, along with Shaaman ex members Hugo and Luis Mariutti, guitarist Andre ‘Zaza’ Hernandes and drummer Eloy Casagrande. The band’s first album - Time To Be Free, produced by Roy Z and Sascha Paeth, was just released in Brazil, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, and Russia. The upcoming tour will be covering all of these territories and there are plans for a special DVD and more!
