About Me

I take the whole world down alone.
*Souls for sale on consignment*
I'm pretty awesome, I mean awful. Humility, right? I live on the edge of the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
I am a writer (published author)/filmmaker (debatable)/graphic designer. I tend to be snarky and sarcastic in a witty manner. I also tend to trail off without finishing my sentences... I'm obsessed with fire and blood (in design, not in everyday life... that would just be creepy). Also the colors black and red. Though my favorite color is leopard. I have no patience. I hate flaky people who don't follow through with something once they commit. I have wanderlust. I'm restless. I merely express temporary interest in things. Soon my interest, will, as always, begin to wan.
I'm currently working on the follow up novel to Obsidian Nights and filming the Obsidian Nights movie. I own a production company, Finn Productions, based in Indianapolis.
"You can complain that roses have thorns or be happy that thorns have roses."
Only those who can see the invisible can do the impossible.
My philosophies?
On what?
Life? Everything that happens to us happens for a reason, though we may not know that reason right away, or even like it or agree with it. It all works out in the end.
Love? I used to be capable of love. But experience has taught me that sometimes it is better not to care. For me, love has always meant sacrifice, and sacrifice, when given unnecessarily, is nothing more than a waste.
God and Satan? I don't believe in a devil with a red tail and horns on his head who inhabits the land of hell. I believe everyone is the embodiment of God, and of Satan as well. Good and evil can be found in all of us, and both are solely based on our own perceptions. Something that one man deems evil another may see as a good deed. No villain ever thinks of himself as the villain. By token, there can never exist a world without good or a world without evil, as long as man inhabits it. The natural world exists in a state of neutrality, and good and evil, God and Satan, are man-made concepts.
Divine intervention? Pfft. People pray for the lives of those they love, but in reality our lives are our own and we are given the choice to make our own decisions. And live or die by them.
Dreams and ambitions? The bottom line is that you have to do what you want to do in life. Even if you don't reach the goal you originally had in mind, that doesn't mean you've failed. The only way you can fail is if you never try at all. Remember that goals can change, and there is always time to try again.
Karma? Vengeance? You get what you give Yeah, sure, okay, if you say so. But I don't do good deeds merely because I think I'll be rewarded for them. And I don't not do bad deeds for fear of being punished later. As for people who have bad deeds to me in the past - I wish them well. Really, I do. I really don't care what happens to them whatsoever though. If karma comes for them and causes them to get hit by a bus, so be it. If they end up living in a tropical paradise for the rest of eternity and all of their dreams are fulfilled, great. Either way, what does that have to do with me?
Violence? "No one has the right to say to anyone else, human or animal 'You must or I'll hurt you.'" - Monty Roberts
Obsidian Nights
Lavannah Savoy doesn't know what she's getting herself into when she travels to Miami in search of her missing sister. She leaves her quiet life in Boston behind and finds herself thrown into a strange and frightening new world of vampires and other underworld creatures.
Welcome to Club Obsidian, where everyone has a secret and everyone has a story.
EXCERPT FROM OBSIDIAN NIGHTS:
With trembling hands, Castor sank to his knees before the two and whispered, "Though it can last no more than an instant, I shall grant you the one last thing you desire. I give you your mortality." And so their hearts were bound as they stood against the edge of the night, bitter tears falling down into the ground to soak up all the pain and rage they'd left behind with their forsaken lives. Suddenly the ever present hunger, the lust that bordered on madness, and the desperate clutching for humanity was no more than a dream. As they came together to share one last mortal kiss, there came a soft voice, echoing across the night air. "Into the night, our internal flight. We wait for the darkness to carry us home. Forever in shadow, eternally alone."

My Interests

Crusading, slaying monsters, saving the world, selling everyone's soul but my own, collecting bad habits.

BURNING

In the light of dusk she asks
For the gift that can't be passed
The truth she failed to see
Immortality isn't free

It's the light thats in her eyes
That's burning me inside
'Cuz the only way I'll die
Is to let her in this life

Still I'm losing her tonight
And there's no way i can fight
The obsession in her mind
And the lies she hides behind

It's the light thats in her eyes
That's burning me inside
'Cuz the only way I'll die
Is to let her in this life

Tonight is just a night, like any other I have known
Then why do I feel destined to face the shadows all alone?

It's the light thats in her eyes
That's burning me inside
'Cuz the only way I'll die
Is to let her in this life

I can not let her go
But if I tell her so
She'll run to him, I know
And red the blood will flow.
--
You know, when we met it was too soon to tell
all the ways you would make me go blind.
Your hand on my face and my hand through your hair
and I knew
you never were mine.
Still, I ignored all the signs

The rose and the blood and the images foretold
in this, imaginary city.
And I...
I need you now.

Your lips they taste so sweet,
and the way that you breath
leaves me numb.
Oh, why can't you be
The way that I wish you could be

And now, it's too late to try.
You asked of me pain, and I had to refrain
though the reasons, you'll never know why.
Nothing can kill me.
But your death will kill me
as surely as time passes by.

Your tears they were so sweet
and the way that your heart beats -
divine.
How I wish you could kiss me again

And now it is time
To say our goodbyes.
For I know you are with me tonight.
Wherever I go,
And how time will flow,
I never will be satisfied

till I forgive you my dear
And shed the last tear
that my heart holds deeply inside.
I'll see you my friend
sometime again,
at the end of my immortal life.

I'd like to meet:

Someone who isn't afraid of me.

Check out my story "Nyazarine" in "Dark Harvest" (to be published in June).

Bram Stoker Award winning horror author Gary Braunbeck has this to say about the book:
"This is damned serious stuff, and it’s scary, suspenseful, and sweat-inducing; but more importantly – perhaps most importantly – it’s all disturbing as hell, and cannot be easily forgotten. From Michael West’s opener “Goodnight” (a story that manages to be simultaneously horrifying and heartbreaking) to Michelle Pendergrass’s powerful and affecting “Saigon Seventeen” (a story of which both Philip K. Dick and Harlan Ellison would approve), through Bob Freeman’s dazzling novella “Born Again” and Maurice Broaddus’s disturbing pair of Old-Testament cautionary tales, as well as Sara Larson’s set of eerily beautiful and haunting stories, Tracy Jones having diabolical fun turning an old horror-story cliché on its head, and Tiffany Proctor’s Fritz Leiber-like dark (and I mean dark) fantasy, this anthology is a winner all the way down the line."
