About Me
Hi! I'm Blue MC, a vocalist and song writer originally
hailing from Brisbane, in the land of Oz. In my eight
year stint as a professional singer and emcee I have
fronted four different live outfits (Chi-Qi, Brisbane
2000-02; Bionik World, Melbourne 2003-04; Streetbox,
London 2005-06; The Potbelleez, Sydney summers 2005/06/07
to present) and featured for countless producers and
djs on three continents ...........................
Fuzing sweet song vocals with percussive rhymes my style
is quite diverse and I have written lyrics and vocal
melodies for many different genres of modern music,
from hip hop to house, dub, breakbeat, electro and pop,
depending on the requirement of the time. As a result,
some of my collaborative tunes feature my performance
as a singer, some as a rapper, and some as both. Outside
of the recording realm, however, I have earned my stripes
as an emcee the only way one can: by rockin the clubs.
I have supported myself for the last eight years by
appearing consistantly in clubs around Australia, week
in week out, rockin it over any beat you can dance to,
with any dj who'll pass me the mic. Such peers include
dj Mr King, Funktrust (djs Will Styles & Learned Hand),
dj G-San, Agent 86, dj Ransom, Kano & Ennio Styles,
dj Ravi, dj 2D, dj Hound, Brewster B, Keltec, Jono Fernandez,
dj Lazy Boy, dj T-Rek, Luke McDee, dj Mur@t, Emerson
Todd, and of course The Potbelleez (djs Dave Goode &
Jonny Sonic) .....................
I spent two and a half years based in London (2004-07)
where my main focus was performing with MC Xander as
half of the a'capella beat-box duo Streetbox (see myspace/streetboxmcs),
and while I was there I featured two tracks on the latest
album for the infamous Hexstatic (see myspace/hexstatic)
of UK label Ninja Tunes. Most recently, however, I've
been back in Oz consumed by the Potbellee enigma alongside
Ilan Kidron (aka I-Kid) and Irish dj duo Dave & Jonny
(mentioned above). It all started early '07 with the
group's first original release "Junkyard" featuring
vocals by Moi, and was soon followed by "Don't Hold
Back" featuring vocals by Ilan which basically blew
the roof off the dance music scene in Australia, and
The Potbelleez - now a four piece "band" - have been
insanely busy ever since! (see myspace/thepotbelleez)....................
With constant touring in Oz and a recent tour of Germany
to promote our first release there, things are headed
skyward for our fledgeling electro-dance-band. Stay
tuned for more singles and The Potbelleez debut album
due for release around September 2008 .....................
Thanx for checking out my space :)
