MURAT KILIC [Stil Vor Talent / Stereo Seven / BEEF]
â€¢ As well as being a respected long time DJ in the Australian electronic music scene, Murat Kilic has more recently become a profilic producer of tech house, minimal and techno over the last few years with releases on some of the world's most forward thinking labels like Stil Vor Talent of Berlin, Germany and Stereo Seven Plus of Milan, Italy. He has also completed remixes for labels such as BEEF, Kaato, Subsonic and Tribal Vision.
â€¢ Murat Kilic is the founder, booker and resident DJ for one of Australiaâ€™s longest running and best known After Hour Club called â€œSPICEâ€ held at The Bunker club every week from 5am on Sudnay in Sydney's legendary red light district, King's Cross. SPICE is in its 4th year now and during this time Murat has booked DJ's such as Paul Ritch, Shonky, Style of Eye, Stephan Bodzin, Phil Keiran, Marc Romboy, Mike Monday, Phonique, Luca Bacchetti, Tiefschwarz, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Simon Baker, Martinez, Tocadisco, Claude Von Stroke, Martin Eyerer, Alex Kid to name a few.
â€¢ Murat Kilic is the Co-founder/organiser of Lost Baggage, a very popular Monthly party that is also thriving in Sydneyâ€™s Kingâ€™s Cross. Lost Baggage has hosted the whoâ€™s who of the global electronic music scene since it burst on the scene in Oct 2007 including Jon Gaiser, Alex Smoke, Matthias Tanzman, Lutzenkirchen, Marc Houle, Joris Voorn, Layo&Bushwacka, Aril Brikha, Phil Kieran, Youssef, Dusty Kid, Ewan Pearson, Heidi, Tim Green, 2000 and One and Ripperton

ABOUT MURAT K I L I C
Raised in the suburbs of Sydney by strict Turkish parents on a diet of classical Turkish music played back on a Grundig reel to reel player not much smaller than a fridge. Listening to "foreign" music, least of all bangin' electronica was far from acceptable and certainly not tolerated in the Kilic household. Despite these hurdles, as avid young music lovers, Murat and his sister were able to maintain a healthy stash of records, mixtapes and music videos under the cupboard in their bedroom for many years. Maybe this was the perfect upbringing for him because this deprivation has yielded a profound and undying love for hoarding music and an ear for anything to seriously rock a dancefloor.
Murat has been an avid collector of music (particularly on vinyl) since his early teens circa 1982 when he used to dodge school to sniff out rare wax at Sydney 2nd hand records stores Ashwoods, Martins and The Record Plant.
Murat plays at Australia's leading tech clubs regularly. In Melbourne: Pretty Simple @ FFour, La Di Da, Darkbeat @ Brown Alley, onesixone, revolver, Tramp. In Sydney: Lost Baggage @ The Cross, SPICE @ The Bunker, Nevermind & Chinese Laundry. In Queensland Murat has played the most respected nights such as Drop @ Moonbar & Elsewhere Sundays on the Gold Coast. Some of Murat's recent overseas gigs include Sunrise Party Salvador-Brazil, Transit @ MV in New Caledonia, Roxy Club Prague, Love Parade Germany 2007/2008, Palais Club Munchen & Blanco in Istanbul to name a few. This year he will playing over 10 dates in the EU between 15 May - 5 July 2009.
Murat has a strong tech influence and this is reflected during his sets. His style is an intelligent blend of minimal tech, tech house, techno and acid. "At the end of the day, it is all about educating the crowd without boring them. Teaching people to appreciate new music whilst still getting them to dance themselves to oblivion".
