About Me

In late 1999, underground New York DJ Reade Truth forged Path Records in order to further explore his dance floor visions and provide an outlet for his eclectic style and taste. What followed were an intense series of 5 phenomenal Eps each exploring a different set of ideas. The first release, Why 2k? recorded under his Fate 258 moniker was the follow up to the his Sonic Groove release the first Quarter EP. The track Give Me Insanity, with its haunting matter of fact vocals and relentless percussion, became a local favorite. The follow up EP entitled Pathfinder featured the debut of Reade Truth and Jake Reifs head turning electro project Upsetting Keys with a nasty monopoly-driven explosion entitled Debut and showcased the smooth talents of producer Casey Hogan, who reconstructs a Fate 258 loop into a cool tech-house builder.Perhaps the seminal release on the label, Warpath, featured a pounding commentary on mankinds favorite obsession. Tracks like WWIII and Battlefield Conditions found its way into many DJ crates. Reversing the Glass samples Chicago classic The Jungle and serves it up with equally disturbing samples from Marlon Brando and lyrics. The EP is also famous for a short, sweet dark intro piece taking the best part of Agent Smiths diatribe about the scum of the earth: Mankind.Upsetting Keys got a full release with tightly produced electronics taking the shape of 4 tracks on the Empathy EP. Dark subject matter flows nicely behind wild analog sounds on the old school electro anthem Empathy and the unconventionally epic Invisible, Electronic Ghosts From The Past. One of Jersey Citys greatest DJ forces was DJ Denard Henry who was a pioneer of industrial and techno culture in the New York / New Jersey scene until moving to Germany. Some of Reades earliest collaborations were with Denard and until the Path Records EP, the only released material was the absolutelty stunning and essential ambient piece Metaphase released on Strictly Rhythm back in 1993. The 1.1 EP saw 2 of their original productions, also from 1993 get vinyl; The Groove and Lotus Theme got slight post-production and remix treatment and finally, a well deserved release.
