Justin Sager

WELL, SOMETIMES YEAH....

About Me

This band’s name is called Justin Sager, which is also the name of the lead guitarist and lead member himself. The band members include Justin Sager on lead guitar, Lawrence on bass guitar, and David Lewis on drums. Justin has been playing guitar since he was about 9 years old and he is now 20. 9. His skills on guitar and specialties include an advanced knowledge of scales and theory, a thorough knowledge of music history, particularly in the rock genre, and a natural knack for songwriting and playing the instrument very well. He started out learning and playing Beatles songs, open chords, and some chord progressions. He then progressed to learning scales and started listening to groups like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and the Rolling Stones. He played his first show when he was 13 and it was for his sixth grade talent show in which his band at the time, Kerosene, played “Smoke On The Water” by Deep Purple. It was a very memorable experience for him from the standpoint that nobody in his band was prepared except for him. It is something that he will never forget. As the years went by, he started practicing more and more and as a result he started to see huge improvements in his playing, which kept him motivated to keep working hard. Then when he got into high school he started forming some bands that were not very keen on trying to get better or to try to pursue goals that he had from the very beginning. The most notable bands that he had in those four years were Steel Tapestry, which was a metal/rock outfit that played original material and covers by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Iron Maiden and others; and J.S. Cha, which was aptly labeled in the Reno News and Review as a funk/jazz/rock group. This group not only played a melting pot of genres but was also musically superior to Steel Tapestry.Probably his most productive band though was one that Justin formed during his senior year in high school, which he named Wayward Dragon, which was a heavy metal/hard rock band whose influences included Deep Purple, Rainbow, Joe Satriani, Dream Theater, and others. With that band he recorded one CD, which was entitled Caught In The Underworld, which had very little exposure to an audience of any kind. They also played a handful of shows at venues such as Spiro’s Sports Bar And Grille, the Jazz Club, Comma Coffee, Walden’s Coffeehouse, Knuckleheads,’ and Club Underground.During the time from December 2005 until the fall of 2006, Justin’s father Eric Sager was playing bass guitar for the band and and after that Sager replaced him with a 19 year old UNR student by the name of Kevin Fredericks, who was a good musician to do the job. Also with the addition of Kevin, Justin decided to change the band name to his own name to better promote himself as a entertainer/musician and to also reflect the change in musical style, which is now more of a straight rock sound that is undoubtedly Justin’s own. Currently Justin has been writing material for three new albums which haven't been recorded or released yet and getting his new band together which features now Lawrence on bass guitar and David Lewis on percussion and drums. Also along with that the last CD he recorded with his band in the summer of 2007 which would be named Surprise!!!!, will be out in stores very soon as the final copies are being ordered as we speak.
