My Interests

==================
Vertigo

Smells Like Tenn Spirit

Music, jazz and classical in particular, but I like all kinds, "both Country and Western..." Well, no.... As you can tell, I am a gangsta rap aficionado.

I'd like to meet:

Generalities: anyone and everyone that's not an arse, especially jazz and classical musicians, other bassists, luthiers, inventors, sculptors, key grips, special forces, CIA operatives, cartoon voice actors, playwrights, psychologists, the keeper of the Cheese Whiz formula

The guy that first milked a cow and ask him what the heck he was thinking

Specificity: Jessica Alba; of course all the usual suspects...: Ellington, Coltrane, Bird, Armstrong, Ella, the guy that invented Cheese Whiz, Mingus, the inventor of the Reader's Digest abridged versions so I can smack him in the noggin, Coleman Hawkins, Ray Brown, Jaco

All the Monty Python guys, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Einstein, Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Stephen Hawking, Edison, Shakespeare, Da Vinci, Plato, Devo, the Dirty Jobs guy, the midget that played Dr. Miguelito Loveless on the Wild Wild West Show

(not necessarily in any order)

Music:

Get certified. Prove to the world that you're a good guitarist!

Classical (Stravinsky, Mahler, Wagner, Shostakovich, Mussorgsky, Korsakov, Bernstein, Copland, Holst, etc. etc.)

Jazz (too numerous to mention, ...but all the great bassists of course, since I can only hope to play well enough to be an accomplished amateur)

Rock-ish (Rush, Rush, ...did I say, Rush?, Jethro Tull, Queensryche [Mindcrime 1 especially], Phish, Mr Bungle, Frank Zappa, Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Metallica [Master of Puppets and before], Queen, Yes, Chicago, etc.)

Other: Anything that Victor Wooten is on, i.e. Bela Fleck, solo stuff, whatever...; Michael Manring; Aquarium Rescue Unit; real Funk (Go Bootsy!); Motown; World music, i.e. Glen Velez, Tuva throat singing, Japanese Taiko Drumming, Hindustani classical music, Ravi Shankar, etc.

Movies:

All Monty Python; Band of Brothers; Ken Burns', "Civil War Series"; Glory; Office Space; Saving Private Ryan; Star Wars (mainly for the music); Lord of the Rings; We Were Soldiers; Spinal Tap; Best in Show; 61; Excalibur (mainly for the music);

...really any movie that has made me laugh, think, enjoy the music, or awe at the effects, CGI or otherwise

Television:

The Office (British and American;

PBS: "Frontiers", "Nova", "Nature", "History Detectives";

Modern Marvels; Myth Busters; Curb Your Enthusiasm;

...once again, anything that's funny, interesting, or musically invigorating

Books:

The Bible; Shakespeare's complete works; Asimov's complete works; East of Eden; Tom Clancy's complete works (novels); Patrick O'Brian's complete works (author of Master and Commander); Shelby Foote's "The Civil War: A Narrative"; Stephen Hawking, "A Brief History of Time" and "The Universe in a Nutshell" [Most of his other stuff is far beyond my understanding.]; Tolkien (Complete); C.S. Lewis (Complete); etc. etc.

Heroes:

Anyone who has made a positive impact on humanity by enriching our hearts, minds, spirits, values, and the way we treat each other, especially our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

The Dolphin IV

I spent nearly a year of my life as a musician onboard this ship.  I always thought that it would just sink on its own, ...preferrably when I wasn't on it, so here you have it @:D  &nbs...
