Allen started playing guitar at age 5. He moved on to 5-string banjo at age 9, taking lessons from N.B. banjo legend Russel Sawler, who has performed and recorded with J.P. Cormier.
Allen has performed around the Atlantic provinces with family members in The Scott Family Band, a gospel country/bluegrass band. He performed with various cover bands in St.Stephen-St.Andrews area. He has performed and recorded with well-known N.B. acts such as Al Hooper, Wheeler, and Eddy Gouchie, appearing at ECMA showcases with Eddy Gouchie and an early version of Nervous White Folk.Allen performed and recorded as a charter memeber of N.B. bluegrass act One Mile Hill, who placed second in the 2004 CBC Galaxie Rising Stars competition at the Nesbit-Burns Jazz and Blues Festival in Saint John, N.B.; and who received a 2005 ECMA nomination for their self-titled debut album.The music clips here on myspace are the first 3 tracks for the upcoming full-length CD from Nervous White Folk.
Allen composed, arranged and produced all 3 songs, as well as playing all instruments and providing lead and backing vocals.-----------------------------------------------------
