Belly dance, Salsa dance, Indian dance, Persian dance, swing dance, and... well... lot's of dancing. Also hiking, swimming, and anything to do with the beach.
PLEASE READ THE "READ THIS FIRST" SECTION IN "ABOUT ME"I would love to meet other belly dancers, especially if they live in Tennessee. If anyone has questions about Belly Dance in general,I am more than willing to respond. But if you want info on my classes, etc then go to my website listed in the nex couple of paragraphs. If you play really good soul music or world fusion stuff then send a request and message so I can hear it. Other than that it's mid-east all the way for my music on here.My students are of course welcome to be on my friends list. :)If you want to get a great overview of what Belly Dance is actually about, I encourage you to visit www.shira.net She has a great website with lots of history and culture information. Also I have a website up. Visit www.lindabellydance.com when you get a chance to see what is new in Nashville's belly dance community. If you have questions about my classes or performances it is all on my website so read that first before asking me about it here.
I like almost every kind of music to an extent. But let's face it, I like it best when I can move to it. Favorites are: Oum Kalthoum (of course), Sulieman Warwar, Shreen, Hakim, Amr Diab, Hossam Ramzy, Oojami, Nancy Ajram, Haife Wehebe, and Tarkan.
1.) Sappy old musicals 2.) Modern versions of sappy old musicals 3.) Belly dance clips from sappy, old, Arabic musicals 4.) Anything funny, moving, or beautiful 5.) And of course lots of Belly Dancing performances
Will & Grace, Designing women, the Golden Girls, History chanel, Discovery Chanel, Arts network (yes I actually watch it), that 70's show, Family Guy, Futurama (hey, I have to cut loose somewhere), and by default, because I married a Mexican Man, Univision! Lot's and lot's of Univision novelas... Also, my new weakness: America's Next Top Model. Yes, I know, it's really entertaining while simultaneously evil and addictive.
Lots of books about Belly dancing, things about identity and religion (very interesting), history, and Historical fiction. I'm also a stepmom of a 5 year old. If you are a stepmom you must red "The single Girl's guide to MArrying a Man, his kids, and his ex-wife". Even if you weren't single when you got married or didn't even get married, if you have any kind of step relationship with a minor (or adult child) you really need to read this ASAP.
Of course every pioneering belly dancer, my parents, my sisters, and my best friend Jessica and her mom; Anna and Matt, my Husband Ricardo, and the man who made my marriage happen: Carey James. The real heroes are the people that take responsibility for their life and live it well. No excuses. No regrets. Only love and adventure.
