About Me

The artist Joseph Cornell and the ideal of memory repressed: a childhood of purity and rectitude without rage or desire.i've been at myspace since july 2006, and it has been, for the most part, great fun. i came for the music and found scores of fine people and more great music than i can shake a stick at. i intend to stay around for a long time to come. i'm an ohio valley native. because of my long-standing affiliation with the military (first navy, now army) i have lived throughout the united states, mostly in the south, a region i consider my favorite; i have adopted it in some sense and will always feel at home south of the mason-dixon line. i am an army officer now working at the army medical department center and school in the mental health branch. as a combat stress control psychologist in the army i served two tours in iraq, and now i am happy to be teaching. i suppose there is much more to learn about any person than can be found in an "about me" box. so, if you stop by, explore the other sections as they will tell you alot about the things that matter and that i've enjoyed over time. i'll look forward to hearing from you.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

(especially gettysburg, socal (especially l.a.), boston and the cape, the deep south, and new orleans), hiking and canoeing, spiritual and psychological issues, fine dining, sports (particularly the cleveland browns, boston red sox and celtics, the midshipman of navy and the alabama crimson tide), and anything my children are doing. Finally, there are many worthy humanitarian causes to support, here's one: THE NEW ORLEANS MUSICIANS RELIEF FUND . . . give generously, as they have to us.

Music:

the beatles, the beach boys, the band, frank sinatra, the pat metheny group, sara evans, aaron copland, antonio carlos jobim . . . a variety of pop-rock (jangle, psychedelic, folk, power, and classic), country, americana-roots, assorted jazz and classical artists, and the many talented and generous musicians of myspace. the following quote from a fine musician sums up nicely my affection for american music in particular:"Italy could never have given the world Johnny Cash. It’s the great contradictions of America that interest us, the wealth and poverty, the generosity and greed, the naivety and brutality, the optimism and superstition. So much music in the world that could only have happened in America! Our jazz and blues musicians, our songwriters, black gospel, bluegrass and soul – American music – this is some of the best, most enduring stuff we’ve given the world as a nation, period." --Linford Detweiler, Over The Rhine

Movies:

to kill a mockingbird, lord of the rings, braveheart, chinatown, and the many more that are listed below. in 2006 only one film stood out as both memorable and consequential (though i've yet to see eastwood's promising iwo jima films), the harrowing "united 93" . . . little wonder it performed poorly at the box office . . this time the terror was real.
