DJ/MIX CD'S/PRODUCTION & EDITING/ART/DESIGN & ACTING: jlucas@rts is passionate about philosophy & social politics, dedicating some of his spare time to the anti-racist and Socialist movement. Having had spells playing lower division pro-football, j is languishing in the obscurity of the semi-pro divisions, preferring to concentrate on art and music, literature, art-house films, design and martial arts to name a few.

White Teeth by Zadie Smith: In the hedonistic world in which we live, where publishers are constantly on the lookout for writers that reflect a quick-fix style of writing, it is refreshing to find a debut novel that can leave you hooked after just a few pages. The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, by Robert Tressell is a perspective on life in Britain when socialism was slowly gaining in momentum. frank owen, the hero of the hour, is a socialist that believes that capitalism is the reason for the poverty that surrounds him. He attempts (in vain) to convince his colleagues that this is the case, however he recognises that their education has something to do with their inability to trust what their own thoughts tell them and that in fact they rely on their "betters" to construct their reality for them. Frank passionately propounds his thoughts but is met by a wall of jeers. This has been an inspirational read for countless minds....... Must read: Freakonomics
