Hello Everyone
The past month has been incredibly exciting.
I was in Vienna for the Life Ball, the largest European fundraiser for the AIDS Cause. This year we raised over 1.1 million euros, which is more than any other year in Life Ball history. The show and event was spectacular. Set in the centre of Vienna, the entire city was participated in the Life Ball. The fashion show was so colourful and the stage design, a giant ribbon in support of AIDS, was out of this world – it was truly a ball celebrating life and everything that we have to give to the fight against AIDS.
I personally am deeply passionate and committed to this cause. In my 20-year career I have been lucky enough to meet people that have inspired, changed and lived greater lives than most could dream - yet some of those people aren't here today. I believe we must continue to fight AIDS supporting every opportunity to bring a cure, honour the lost and protect the next generation. Talking about it can help us stop the spread, donating our time and money can help speed a cure.
As part of the Life Ball, the Austrian post office had a special commemorative stamp, which featured a picture of myself. My first ever stamp, hard to believe!
It was also my birthday last month and I had an incredible time. I celebrated with a three-day party with my close friends and family in Dubai. It was a blast, we danced the night away, the food was fantastic and there was even a fireworks show. It was an amazing time and a very memorable birthday for me.
I am excited to report that I attended the Glamour Woman of the Year Awards, in London, where I was honored with Outstanding Contribution Award. It was such a thrill to receive such a prestigious award especially as this year is my 20th year in the fashion business. My good friend Alexander McQueen was there to present me with the award, and I was really touched. So many people to thank
I also shot the cover of W magazine with Steven Klein in New York. He is such an incredibly talented photographer I always really enjoy our projects together. I don't want to give too much away about the shoot and will leave it as a surprise. However, it is the July issue, so be sure to check it out!
Also in NY, I recently shot Italian Vogue with Mario Sorrenti. I am very excited about this project and it is always such an honor to work with Mario.
Speaking of Italy, I traveled to Florence for the Cavalli Men's Show. It was held on the Ponte Vecchio, the first time Florence has ever they shut down their famous bridge. When Ava and Roberto called me to ask about the Cavalli Men's show – I assumed they wanted me to attend. But in fact, I walked the cobbled catwalk three times. It was an incredible experience, an amazing show and Florence truly is a beautiful city.
I hope you all have a great Summer. Keep writing to me as I love hearing from all of you and I will write again soon.
Peace and Love.
