Melvin Odoom™:
Currently Melvin presents on Kiss with his partner in crime Rickie Haywood-Williams. Melvin also features on a new CBBC show ‘The Slammer’ a show produced by Steve Ryde who brought you the successful kids TV programme ‘Dick and Dom In Da Bungalow’.
Melvins experience in all aspects of the media is exceptional for his young age. As a child Melvin acted in a number of theatre productions and even gave speeches to governors for youth council. Melvin is not shy in being compared to Dick and Dom in the Bungalows (BBC1) answer to Matt Lucas. Relishing all aspects of playing various characters and voiceovers for the BAFTA award winning childrens show every Saturday morning. During the week, Melvin worked as a freelance broadcast assistant for 1Xtra. As a BA for the station, Melvin produced and voiced features, records and organised guest interviews whilst staying close to his love of the Urban music scene. Melvin has not strayed far from his media roots having studied media and drama at A-Level and gaining a Media Performance and Radio degree from university where he met comrade Rickie Haywood-Williams. Melvin and Rickie also work for the site ment2excel.com who organise various events for young people. Bursting with media knowledge and information, Melvin has turned his hand to teaching dance and drama to children with behavioural issues whilst juggling part time work at a community centre in London for young people and extra work in advertisements and music videos. Melvin is far from reaching his ultimate goal admitting that he does not want to leave any media stone unturned
Rickie Haywood-Williams™:
As well as Kiss Rickie is also the new face of MTV News.
He has always been the obvious choice for youth programming, Rickie's strengths lie in his charm, affable personality and who can deny that schoolboy twinkle in his eyes! With a background in performing arts and technology gained from London's BRIT school, Rickie knew very early on that he was to follow a career path into the media industry. With a passion for TV presenting and a love for Radio, it was only natural with this in mind that he pursued a degree in Media performance. Taking the opportunity of work experience at the newly established 1Xtra BBC with both hands, Rickie became a full time broadcast assistant for the digital station as well as frequently working for BBC Radio 1 on a number of shows. Voicing trails which were regularly aired on 1Xtra BBC, as well as hosting the hip hop talent contest 'The Jump Off' are just a couple of the opportunities thrown Rickie's way. In his spare time, Rickie joins friend and often co-host Melvin Odoom in organising club nights in London, which also acts as a vehicle for the boys to showcase their talents as presenters (via excel-TV) and to keep Rickie's love of performing close to his heart. The hosted events are often recorded for their website Ment2Excel.com showing the witty and relaxed chemistry between the duo. With a weekly slot on the world famous Kiss 100 radio station, the guys are going from strength to strength!
