Damali- 3 sisters, born to Bishop Robert L. Banks Jr. and first Lady Karen Banks in Pahokee, FL. From babies they were taught the true meaning of ministry. Their childhood time, not by choice, was spent in Church, Church, and more Church… “Bible Church of God was and is our life!” In 1987, the Lord called our daddy to minister and He led him to a town by the name of Indiantown, FL. It was just the five of us. Mom, Robbie, and Felicia would do praise and worship, while dad was on the piano leading praise and worship and I was on the drums with a microphone in the stand. From babies we would sing to the Winans, Vickie, and BeBe and CeCe, The Clark Sisters and Andre Couch. My dad would MAKE us practice on Saturday nights to sing for church on Sunday. Even if we fell asleep, he would wake us up to rehearse and study our Sunday school lesson for Sunday’s service. Music was a huge part of our lives. Singing became like breathing: it was a part of everything we did. After graduating from Pahokee High we all received athletic scholarships to Johnson C. Smith University. While here in Charlotte, we started fellowshipping at New Life Fellowship. In 1998 Jacarada “JB”, started singing in the New Life Fellowship’s Church Choir. In 1999 she started singing with John P. Kee & the New Life Community Choir (Not Guilty, VIP Mighty in The Spirit, New Divine Destiny, Power of Worship, Lil Rufus, The Color of Music, VIP Live at the Fellowship), Partakrew, the youth choir. She was also blessed to be a directress of the Church Choir, the VIP Choir, and a Praise and Worship Leader (2002-2004). JB’s choreography credits can be seen on Be Ready (New Divine Destiny) and Mighty in the Spirit videos. Robbie also sang with Partakrew (2000). In 2001 she started singing with New Life Community Choir (Mighty in The Spirit, Power of Worship). Robbie was also a featured dancer in the Mighty in the spirit Concept Video. Felicia started singing with the Church Choir and Partakrew in 2000 and with New Life Community Choir in 2001 (Mighty in The Spirit, Power of Worship, Live at the Fellowship). She also was a featured dancer in the Mighty in The Spirit Video. We are blessed to partake at New Life Fellowship where we’ve gained a lot of wisdom not only in singing, but also in life. We also must accredit our root “Bible Church of God”: they gave us confidence and support in the talent that God has given us. Mostly we honor God for His faithfulness, gifts, timeliness, and His word: that has and still is molding us into the women of God He desires us to be! We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone: fan, supporter, prayer warrior and radio station that is supporting the ministry of Damali. Without you this “Beautiful Vision” would be much more difficult to spread.
