At the age of 20, proven to be a songstress ahead of her time R&B singer/songwriter Candy Shields creates heartfelt melodies that invoke love, play, heartache and reconciliation.In the mold of classic artists such as Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Aaliyah, Candy brings forth her own timeless appeal through her music and flair for performing. As a child, her multi-dimensional talents emerged as she began singing at age 4, dancing at GFI studios and ATIYA Performing Arts at age 5, and learning to play the piano at age 7.Candy began writing lyrics during her time at Suitland High School for the Visual and Performing Arts where she graduated a year before her scheduled time.Candy honed her skills performing at numerous events and venues throughout the DC Metropolitan area. These included, but are not limited to the Kennedy Center, H20 Night Club, Zanzibar on the Waterfront, CadaVez, Kelis Restaurant and Lounge, and 93.9 WKYS Summerfest. She performed at other venues in the company of artists such as Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Roberson, and many others.While her songs stem from personal experiences, Candy uses them to convey her sensitivity. Her ability to thrive in the face of adversities such as the loss of loved ones is a testament to the drive and determination instilled in her from childhood and continues to impel her today.The year 2007 brings you the premiere of Shields’ hot and fresh R&B single, entitled “Virgin to the Microphone.†The song highlights her velvety voice and lucid writing style wrapped in a sultry melody created by Candy alongside producer, Osinachi and club bangin "Git It Boy" created by Candy and producer Mo Digga. The year also brings you another side of this triple threat diva as she embarks into acting, making appearances in the Disney/Touchstone motion picture, “Music High†as well as “The Butterfly Riddle.“Having my music heard and welcomed by the public is something I have dreamed of accomplishing my entire life,†says Candy, who currently attends Howard University.Management:
