Started collecting records aged 12, buying 12'' Depeche Mode and New Order singles from stores like Record Collectors and Freebird alongside an upbringing of soul music courtesy of my Dad's passion for Van The Man! Intention was never to become a DJ or producer but I was always driven by music. Completed a Yamaha Keyboard course from 1988 to 1992 with Tommy Mangan's Yamaha Keyboard School which further fueled my music fire. From 1994 began playing house parties to close friends after crazy nites out at the Olympic and Sides. From playing at house parties came 1st proper DJing promotion staged at Coolmine Rugby Club where there was me, my brother Brian [R.I.P.] and Tony Murphy [Shaft] all playing to a packed house and the rest they say is history! Residencies followed in some of the best clubs in Dublin, initially, and then nationally and internationally. Some of these residencies include UP @ P.O.D. [1995/96], Pasha @ Temple Theatre [1999 - 2002], Seventh Heaven @ Republica [1996/97], and Legend's at the Curragh [1998/200]. Shortly after this with fellow muso, Dean Sherry, set up Phunk'Dup which started life in Legend's before moving to the more local Switch club in Dublin's Temple Bar. Phunk'dup went on to win awards for 'Best Upcoming Act' BBm Awards as well as numerous nominations for Best Club night. Was also nominated for the 'Best Upcoming DJ' in the BBm Awards in 2001 but lost out to Phil Kieran [he's a super talent and we're still mates ;-)))] Residencies followed in Club Mono [Motion] and The Kitchen [Discotech] both in 2000 - 2002. Our Phunk'Dup residency ran alongside these events and remained at Switch until 2003 - the Phunk'Dup promotion of quality house and tech running for nearly 6 years. After a short DJing break in exchange for setting up the studio facility, VIRTU Studios [virtustudios.ie] Began recording again under my own name as well as guises such as PhunkJunky and Muffler and put out singles such as 'Punani' and 'Scizophonic' as well as remixes for local house jocks including Al Gibbs and LRB. Have also remixed Lisa Stansfield 'The Moment' with Paolo Topaz [Spirit]. In 1998 with Dean Sherry set up Impulsive Music Ireland comprising 3 record labels, a DJ agency and promotions company. Under the Phunk'Dup guise we release 3 singles namely 'Peruvian Flake', 'Millenium Drug', and 'Phunky magic' as well as massive hits for Mark Lowndes and Derek Duff. Now Produce solo or with my production partner, LRB, and currently have a big single on our hands in 'Dishiesque', released September 2006 with remixes by Montero and Totally Random which followed in May 2007. I put my music out through Monad Music and Omnus [thanks Christian] - my music has found its way into the DJ sets of DJ Taucher, Jondi & Spesh, Lemon8 and Deep Dish - and I regularly play out live [DJ, CDJ, Ableton Live] in clubs such as Traffic, Spirit, Sin, Cocoon and The Vaults. My DJing has taken me to places such as New York, Boston, Lanzarotte, U.K. and Turkey and long may it continue!
