In 2000 O.V.N.I was formed when the members of the Alfa-Matrix break beat band, Seize, decided to venture into the darker realms of the human psyche using twisted beats and bone crunching basslines. This time with Steven taking the lead vocals and Sandrine and Rosie on bass and keyboards respectively. With vocal comparisons to Eskil Simonsson (Covenant) and Phil Oakey (Human League) and musicaly likened to the bastard child of Daniel Myer (Haujobb) and Aphex Twin; OVNI defy categorisation. Make up your own mind.First appearing live sometime in 2002 when they played at Church of Madness in Reading, supporting Seize. After a few (and we mean only a few) other support slots around the country, they won the November 2002 Battle of the Bands competition at Whitby.. The end of 2002 saw them invited to play at Planet Myer day in Leipzig alongside Haujobb, Clear Vision, Seize, HMB and Architect.2004 saw a new phase of the band's career as they changed names form Spermwhale to OVNI as the original name was causing problems in mainland europe. 2004 also brought support slots for Haujobb and a couple of smaller events around the country and in Germany and another appearance in Whitby, supporting Alien Sex Fiend. In early 2005, OVNI were signed to Belgian label, Alfa-Matrix. Their first release was the "Good For You" E.P. which includes remixes from artists such as XPQ-21 and Technoir. "Good For You" is a taster of what's to come - The first full length album "Objet Volant Non Identifie" was released in August 2005.They are now working on the follow up to "Objet Volant Non Identifie" for release in the summer of 2008.
