The Maroon Republican

About Me

The second of two boys, Leighton grew up in the heart of Clarendon and knew from a young age that he was destined for greatness. For his entire life, he has found himself overwhelmed naturally by the love for music. During high school he was the considered the drummer for lunch time dj-ing and clashes, and would pound away at desks and blackboards releasing percussive beats with dexterity. His years at university, he pursued another passion in a limited capacity, finding himself becoming more and more interested in fashion designing. He began to keep a portfolio of his drawings and do research into the fashion industry in Jamaica. But the inevitable love for music would win and he decided to put that into full focus. During college he would manage a group in completing thier demo CD and marketing. Since then he has endeavored to teach himself the fine art of music production and has managed to produce a plethora of beats & rhythms. He is currently working with various upcoming artistes through his budding company, Qwashi Inc, the name, which in and of itself speaks volumes of his love for Jamaica and the Jamaican culture. Check out his productions on the official Qwashi page @ www.myspace.com/qwashimusic!!!
