MOCKAMANIA
Having a sense of humor about politics will keep you from going bonkers!
I am so tired of Bush's ineptitude. I am weary of his malapropisms, his failure to engage the electorate, his ignorance on so many topics, his childish Christian idealism and that stupid grin! I am just tired and wish he would disappear. I don't hate the guy. Maybe he's a good husband and father. I don't know, but we need someone in the White House who can think and reason for god's sake! I am hopeful that the young people now reaching maturity are determined, curious, and bold in their thinking. I hope they hold their leaders accountable for their actions. Our generation has dropped the ball on this one. What incompetence we've seen lately!

Religion: freedom of or freedom from?
What is it about religion that makes people so insane? I was raised in a regular protestant church, but I do not subscribe to religious doctrine. A less dogmatic spirituality is a better fit for me. Today, it seems that so many people are angry about religion. Conservatives want to mix religion with government because our nation was founded on a belief in God.
I really understand their viewpoint, but don't agree with it. I can see that you would want your beliefs to encompass all aspects of your life. That you can't leave your religion at the school house door, etc. But, I need you to. I need you to keep them separate because I share the public spaces with you and I don't agree with your brand of religion. I don't want to share that part with you. In our country, we have to make room for me. That's what I like about America---the separation of church and state means I can be free from your indoctrination.

My heroes are those people who have overcome obstacles to get on with their lives. My husband is my greatest hero. He has guided me through many dark pathways--all the while standing by me, holding my hand, and never letting go. Everyday people are the true heroes.
