About Me
When I first heard David sing I was MCing a song writers competition at a country honky tonk in Atlanta. He sang one or two
of his own tunes, and kept coming back to the stage to sing songs that others had written. They obviously felt as Ive come to
feel. No one could put more heart & passion into a song than David so effortlessly can. I told David that night how talented I
thought he was, what a beautiful voice, what soul & sincerity he brought to the microphone every time he opened his mouth on
stage.
As a writer, he reaches into places thats been visited by poets and philosophers through the generations of music, but places that
so few even know exist.
At the GMIA songwriter of the year competition, where I was a judge, I first heard Now I Get It, and the whole house went
wild, & knowing me I was probably in tears, Im a very sentimental guy. Obviously David won that night with that song.
I dont remember which song came in second, but I assure you it was a distant second at best.
Now my friend, David, seems to have interested some influential people in Music City. Hes been in the studio, and from those
sessions has come his vocal magic on CD, and hes looking for a deal, the deal.
In preparation for my new network, Ive been acquiring some seat time at what will be my initial affiliate in Crossville,
Tennessee. Several times Ive included Now I Get It on my show, and those listeners do love it, & have requested it over and
over.
Ive often said that talent is such a small part of success in Nashville, and it would appear isnt always even a requirement. But
if talent still makes a difference, if musical skill and vocal integrity can still bring a new artist to the table, then I hope my letter
has been read by someone with the ability to set a place at that table for my good friend David Staton.

______________________First Musical Experience:
"My entire family is very musical. My two older brothers had already started singing in church but I was always too shy to sing in public, especially around people I knew. One night they were singing at a little country church somewhere in Kentucky and I told my mom and dad that since no one knew me there that I'd like to sing with them. I was six years old and I knew from that night on what I was born to do. I've never wanted to do anything else since. It totally set the path for how my life would go."________________________________________________________
______________________On Music:
"When I'm performing a song that I've written and I watch it move people to the point of tears or laughter, then I've succeeded. There is nothing more satisfying than that. To me, when someone can pull you into a song and make you share the same feeling or emotion, then that's the mark of a great artist."____________________________________________________
__________________________On His Career:
"To quote the title track from my new CD, 'this is not just what I do, it's what I am.' I've been doing this every weekend of my life since I was six years old. I've performed for 7 people and I've performed for 70,000 people. I hope that one day soon that I'm in front of the large crowds every night, but if I'm not, you can bet that I'll be somewhere doing what I do for whoever will listen. It's hard to explain, but this is not something that I could ever stop doing. To ask me to stop writing and singing would be like asking someone to stop eating or breathing.__________________________________________________
