About Me

I worked at the Coney Island sideshow for 14 years, at the begining of the summer I realized that it was finally time for something else, for example trips to Europe, Saturdays in Central Park, and the search for different intellectual endevors. I have been really busy with school, ah at my age, and have been really enjoying life. I am still performing, but not as much. I am just happy to not be stuck in one place, to see the world, and to go and meet people in their natural habitats instead of a small place, that as much as I loved, had begun to take and incredible emotional toll. I thank the boss for denying me a raise over an old incident, I think I was ready to quit and needed to give my self permission to run off and do something else. I do miss all of you who are fans, a lot. My latest endevor has been law school... hum... I guess of all of you who pionered the way and did your own thing but stayed true to your self are the inspiration... it has been really intense... but again, I thank the boss for that incident or I never would have known if I could have at least tried to do someting else... I do miss performing, allot!

My Interests

I am extremely interested in book and writing and spend most of my time either coming up with new ideas or working on something. I love listening to all kinds of music except hair metal,(I do love old stuff like Deep Purple, Motorhead, and Metallica, just not hair metal!) it just never made sense to me. I love the Clash, and the Dead Kenedie's but also MDC and Edith Piaf and Maria Callas and Opera and yes Classical. I am a basic bookworm though I make my living as a performer and love comparing notes. I read, all the time, knowlege is my passion and feel the breaking down the stereotypes is important. I always marvel at the expression on my professors face when they find out that the guy in the front row with the tattooes on his face actually thinks! I also love parks and nature and good art exibits and am becoming fluent in French, that will be three languages. As you see I have a wide variety of interest and love meeting all kinds of people as I can feel I have something to share with everyone.

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent, adventurous, open minded people, who love poetry, punk rock, classical music, and the circus side show. I like tall amazon women who are not afraid to speak their mind,( where are they, tattooed amazon women, who do not want to date models are rock stars?) and who hopefully have a few tattoos. Poets, performers, artists, musicians, and spectators. All are welcome.

Music:

I love The Clash, the Dead Kennedies. Edith Piaf, Fela Kuty, Los Tigres del Norte, Maria Callas, Opera, Mozart, Pink Floyd, MDC, Corridos, Cumbias, Boleros, Los Panchos, Lead Belly, Big Ma Rainey, the blues, Led Zepellin, Jose Alfredo jimenez, Lola Beltran, Paquita la del Barrio. El Tri, Arbol ect....., Anything the is good, from the heart that can tell me something and is genuine, definitely not Kiss or Poison, or Motley Crew, Ratt or any of that stuff, I am an old hard-core person and it taught me how to love what I feel is true and genuine. ( I discovered Larry Mc Cray in Michigan... that guy is a great blues player so I have to add him). I have been listening to a lot of new music, tons and tons, serching for good stuff, so recomend stuff, as long as it is not on MTV, VHI or sold in Wall-Mart.

Movies:

I like alot of old movies and Mexican B movies, Luchador Movies, more Blue Demon the Santo, I also love documentaries. I have been in a few movies and that took some of the magic away. But I will go to the movies with you!

Television:

PBS, Ovation, CNN, discovery- I have been on a few times so I am partial. I have been staying away for the tube as much as possible. I find that most shows give me spiritual indigestion after a while, they just run out of good story lines, I rather listen to music and read!

Books:

I love Pablo Neruda, Mario Benediti, Poetry Anthologies. Mathematical ideas, Biology books, fisics books, too many novels to put in the space, I did read the Encyclopedia Britanica in High school from cover to cover. I read pulp fiction books as a guilty pleasure, and love political and historical books. As I said I am a book worm and there is nothing during the carnival season on on the road more comforting then a good book or even a bad interesting one! If you have any good recomendations, please share with me, as I need to learn and then some. I do love libraries as in a New York apartement you can only have so many books before they compleatly take the space over. however, all I have been reading is case books... arg... I have a beutifull edition of Don Quixote I want to finsish, it will be my, hopefully loose my self in a beach project during break, unless I get kicked out of law school!

Heroes:

Spencer Wailitis, Charles Ulibarri, my uncle Pat, The woman in Kentucky who saved my life, her name is Sally and I do not know if she is still alive as the ones before or all dead but are mentors, my friend Donny who passed away but was always a buddy, my friend Jessica who finished college with two kids and inspired me to go back, Micheal Wilson who was the Illustrated man in Coney when I began to work there and passed away in 1996. The Chilean doctor who kept me from doing something really stupid and then commited suicide a few years later whom I never got to thank. Jan and Arthur who made my good fortune in New York and live in my building, Jenifer Blowdrier who is still writing in the East Village-home sweet home, Txutxo from Balazo in San Francisco and all the people who have had the balls to be themselfs and blazed a trail so folks like me can stay true to ourselves! My beloved Abuelita who died this last year and did so much for me and yes even my parents now a day as I would not be here with out them. All the people who want justice and freedom in the world and My beloved brother William and his wife and kids. And many more, all every day people! Did I mention, all the great people I have met in law school who really sacrifice so much to get thru, man, some of them are such a dedicated bunch...

Goodby Astroland...Coney Island will never be the same.

When I began my Coney Island Journey, it was a very different place. For starters, it was wild, not on the list of quaint, safe place on the tourist list. I remember the occasional article...in ...
