About Me

Well...a bio is a lot of work, but I guess I can spout out a short version of the story. I lived life as a small child in the suburbs of DC, then when my parents broke up I was moved to Oklahoma. There I met Kim Manning (www.kimmanning.com) and Lauren Silkey...they both changed my life forever. Kim and I, after graduating high school and going to a bit of college, decided to take a small road trip to California. Oh what fun it was, on the trip I was searching to find what my passion in life could be... What could it be that would make the most sense for me to do to make the world a better place? It was an "ah-ha" moment where I was upstairs at Moclams house and we were all jammin' and singin' and havin' a good old time in Sebastopol, CA...it was then I realized that music was the answer to all my troubles. I had to look no further for an answer to my pondering question that had been troubling me for some time. So, it was then that my life changed forever...music was the magic for me. I wanted to do anything and everthing to do with music. So I started an internship at One World Studios (www.1worldstudios.com) where I met Dan Parker, who would come to be an integral part of my life and band (Roots A'Risin' - www.rootsarisin.com ). He began to teach me about the music bizz and let me in on some crucial secrets about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. I also got back into playing most of the instruments I had played at some point in my life: voice, piano, guitar, drums, and violin. I began to take music lessons and eventually got two degrees in music; one in vocal performance and the other in music production and recording technology. I was trained to sing, play and write for everything from Opera to Jazz to Pop music. A great time I had gettin' serious at the conservatory. All the while, I had a baby, who is now 5 years old and so cute she will be hunted down by casting directors around the globe. With the rest of my free time I formed the band Roots A'Risin', a high-spirited psychadellic rock and roll band. After years of development, RAR began to take on a personality of it's own, and as a musician and all around creative person I continued to write songs, paint, make clothing, love and live life.(Oh yeah... I also have a clothing line mostly made up of hand made hemp clothing...you can see some stuff on my website (www.PamelaParkerMusic.com)As music's magic and conscious messages were given to me through songs, Roots A'Risin' has released two albums up to now, PEACE and STRIPPED BARE IN ANOTHER WORLD. And RAR is going to be releasing some original tunes from Aradhana Silvermoon (www.silvermoonmedicine.com) on another album we put together with the songs we did with her in the original RAR crew years ago. I am also working on two solo projects, an acoustic album that is almost done with producer/musician/arranger Paul Minor (Earth, Wind & Fire) and a more elaborate album, which is in the San Francisco oven as we speak just baking away.On the daughter tip, I am colaborating with my daughter Hannah Karina Zoe Parker to write a children's book with an accompanying CD on which both Hannah and I will be singing and drawing. It's going to be called "Hannah's Garden".All the while I am travelling back and forth from the west coast to the east coast doing shows and living a great life full of fun and excitement.......and on the real...hard work...but for a good cause...affecting the world in a positive way through music.Life goes on and green grass always grows where the sun shines...brighter and brighter everyday.......
