Influences: Through the i-spiration and guidance in this life my major influences outside of the creator-spirit is my Amma, Ruth Collins-Martin and Baba,Rev.John G.Martin.Having been born in the Southern,United States ,musically I have been influenced by many Black American music forms from rock to jazz to funk blues ,gospel, rap, hip-hop and of course Jamaican reggae.As I began to mature and experience a world of music , I found many world musics such as african drumming ,reggae to
East indian music etc, right in my back yard.Living in Wash D.C. for 30 years I was influenced by all the original music in many forms from r&b to punk(Bad Brains/BeefEater)( H. R. gave me some left over studio time for my first pro recordings), especially the local street music of the 'inner city youth' "Go-Go Music i'e. bands like'Trouble Funk ,Rare Essence etc". Reggae wise when I first began to listen at '16 my first tape was UB40 'Labour of Love', and Third World' Now that we found love'. I actually tossed the UB40 tape and thought the Third World was a disco that was until I heard there earlier recordings. Then I heard Bob and that was it ,next The Burning Spear ,Steel Pulse ,Aswad etc.etc. This music became my bible and my whole enviroment, through concious reggae and spiritual reasonings came the 'awareness' of his Majesty , his benelovent spirit and soul mission to unite the world through oneness,peace and sanctity. I do not feel this is some sort of a day dream or pipe dream . I know what reggae music stands for and what Haile Selassie lived and died and lives on in our hearts and souls for. The reality of his life and works a well as the true meaning of His divinity lives on as a permanent and pertinent force in this chaotic world. Jah is my creator and inspirator guide and protector in whom I-N-I put all my trust . Give thanks continually.One Love,One Peace.
