Doom Man

Until That Day Vol. Zero "A new Breed"

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator
Here is an artist that is welcomed with open arms (and ears). Doom-Man presents us with the most refreshing London sounds and is sure to raise the bar of standards and set off trends to follow.
A native Londoner born to Jamaican parents, Doom-Man grew up in a household where music was highly appreciated and passionately listened to. As a young boy, Doom-Man was used to hearing his mothers collections, My mum loved listening to reggae, but she also listened to Soul, Funk, Jazz & the Motown classics, as well as artists like Sade, Mantronix and Big Daddy Cane. Recalls Doom-Man.
Dooms own musical interests developed over the years through a varied spectrum of music. This ranged from the sounds of Bob Marley, Wu Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest, to Roni Size, Wookie, The Prodigy and more recently, The Streets, Ms Dynamite and ColdPlay.
During the mid 90s with Wu Tang staking a solid claim within the Hip Hop world, Doom was inspired to write and compose his own lyrics. It was around this time that Doom (known back then as The Assassin) started performing with a crew called The Dungeoneers. This went on for a while and came to an end when they outgrew each other.
This was small but crucial turning point that gave Doom the opportunity to regain control over his creative outlet and develop his individual style & flair. In September 2000, Doom and his bother Punisha created Da Marvel. The concept derived from the well-known Marvel Superheros characters. Da Marvel performed at clubs around the UK and ran a successful weekly show on Radio Major FM.
In 2004 Major, Director/Producer of No Apologies was looking for some real home-grown UK talent. I played a track and he just wrapped himself around the beat as if he owned It. says Major. He had that unique UK sound I was looking for.
No Apologies signed Doom and got straight to work. With Major at the helm as executive producer, the two of them went to what has now transpired as Doomz Day the debut album! And as a taste of whats to come, Doom lends his lyrics to the humorously entertaining mix CD entitled Until that Day put together by No Apologies. Doomz Day is an amalgamation of Majors driving beats and Dooms dominating vocals, and if that wasnt enough, maverick producer Howie B (U2, Björk, Tricky) was brought in to mix the album. Collaborations include; Guitarist Dean Tidey (Feeder/Sandstone Veterans), Actor Jason Flemyng (Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake), Kendra Ross (Vocalist/Talib Kwali), Carl MacIntosh (Loose Ends), Tyson (Street Symphony), Séyi (No Apologies), Wookie (Soul II Soul), Sweetie Irie (Roni Size, Ed Case/Gorillaz) and Da Marvel.
Dooms music has already landed him a role in Konamis latest computer game called Crime Life: Gang Wars. The game features D12 who provide music for the title track and whose members lend their voices and likeness to the game. Within the game alongside D12, Doom provides four tracks along with the voice and likeness of him in character. Crime Life: Gang Wars boasts a strong narrative that shows the dangers associated with gang membership, and promotes a strong sense of morality via game elements inspired by classic gang movies, such as New Jack City, Boyz n the Hood and Menace II Society. The game was released in November 2005. For more information, visit the website at http://www.konami-crimelife.com.
I have the highest respect and admiration for artists like, Nas, Jay-Z and Method Man as they have managed to maintain their street credibility as well as hold onto mainstream audiences with a consistent innovation that have made them the visionaries as we know them today. I hope my album will change and improve things and that I get world-wide acceptance as an authentic UK artist. This will help take away the misconception that you need to sound American to be successful, when really you just need to be yourself Says Doom.
Celebrate Life was Dooms first promo and was released in June 2005. Celebrate Life received regular airplay on radio stations and in clubs all over the UK. It received rave reviews by top UK DJs and the music press as well as the public. Doom has performed some of his tracks with high accolade. His towering presence and bold vocals joined forces with beat-box phenomenon Killa Kela at Wembley Arena. He was the opening act for De La Soul in Prague and for Onyx in Slovakia. Doom also performed on Radio 1Xtras night at Belfasts hot spot, the well-known Club Milk. As well as other performances in the UK and Europe, Doom took to the mic on the main stage and wooed a crowd of 20,000 at the Lovebox Weekender summer festival alongside Groove Armada, Milo and many more.
