Clive Batkin & Joel McDermott

instrumental acoustic guitar duo (plus mandolins)

About Me

Clive Batkin and Joel McDermott play original instrumental music for guitar and mandolin. Our own compositions and arrangements of traditional tunes are inspired by folk/roots music from across the world, including Britain, Europe and America. We work hard to make catchy and interesting music that makes people happy, and we love playing live music: every gig is a special opportunity for us to entertain people and to make new friends.Visit our website www.batkinmcdermott.co.uk for loads more stuff including pictures, video, gig dates, biographies, MP3s, news, and nail care tips for guitarists! You can also find out how to get our album G-Force Trousers.Clive Batkin has performed all over the UK and Europe, on TV (Channel 4 & Channel 5), at Proms in the Park (to 40,000 people!) and also at Buckingham Palace at the recent Queen's Jubilee celebrations. Clive also spends a lot of time in his shed making strange things. He doesn't let Joel go in his shed. Clive likes: white shoes and his shed.Joel McDermott is an experienced performer, teacher and composer. He plays fingerstyle, flat-pick, classical and rhythm guitar, banjo and mandolin, and loves all types of music. Joel likes: pirates and ham.My Space is great! Come and be our friends! All the best,Clive Batkin & Joel McDermott.

Sounds Like: 'Very nice set of tunes on guitars, mandolin and banjo, plus assorted pig and cat friends. The duo switch from fast bluegrass picking to gentle Irish airs, with the virtuosity element strongly to the fore, but not overwhelming the tunes. Bet they're blinding live.'fROOTS Magazine December 2006
