Suzanne McDermott

Compelling, soulful and beautiful

About Me

Musician, painter and writer, Suzanne has recorded five albums and toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. In previous incarnations Suzanne worked in classical music publishing, theater, museum exhibit design, world and experimental music, for a couple of legendary folk clubs and administered international chamber music festivals. She also worked at MIT for the Office of the President, as staff to chairs of the faculty, and at the MIT Media Lab. She was secretary to Sarah Vaughan, and served as a US delegate to the People's Republic of the Congo.
"McDermott possesses one of the most assured and mellifluous female voices on the contemporary folk scene. She’s also penned some of the most remarkable songs of the past 50 years, ranks in the first echelon of songwriters and is not timid about infusing her poetry with strong messages." Sing Out!
