Drummy Chris

Been playing drums for long enough to know that it's just "gotta be funky" I have a complete love for funky dance music and playing the drums with similar minded musicians is as complete as I can get. I also compose grooves myself and have wined away many late nights working on grooves and tunes using synths and sounds. It all began with playing the icecream containers in my mid teens with my bro and friends doing the reggae stylee, beating the floor with my right heel for a wicked bass drum! Got some drums from paper round cash and just messed around with my bro on bass, and various muso's at school doing reggae, funk,and blues. All our own stuff!! Spent alot of time writing music during personal crisis's on the fender rhodes but when things were good again lost my inspiration. Tried gigging my own stuff but decided covers was the only way to get really busy. theree were various projects like Rude Dog and the Dweebs with Chris Baston who now plays with Cool Beans,before that it was Clear for Today featuring the talented Tom Kemp, Uncle of Keiren Hebden of Fourtet and Fridge. Got into an acid jazz/ groove / funk covers band called Two Blocks over and gigged like crazy but didn't make much money. Loved it though and this band evolved into grooveshack that is going strong today doing weddings and functions for much more dosh!! My bro on bass is still my main ally in music and has been with me from the start. He is my little bro, and he is the best bass player in the world. Nobody can groove like Mike and on top of that he is a real cool geezer. Of course, he's my brother, and I love him tonnes. Mike and I got a funk band called tiger lily going a few years back, mostly instrumental funk, right up our street. Tiger lily played alot in st albans with the groove guitarist Tuppy, and Stewart Ashden on Sax. Various keys players from Alex to Dave Baldwin, and more horns players than I can list!! Also special guests from the gorgous Amanda H and Becky now seen on tv shows. This band sadly didn't last, SHAME as it was probably what I wanted to do the most. Pure Funk and GROOVE!!!!! I JUST LOVE IT!! I have to mention another musician who I have spent many hours working with and that is Matt Kent of New Soul Rebel. I have enjoyed many inspirational evenings with him working on his tunes in his studio recently, but also years ago in the matt kent band, doing more soulfull grooves. I have recently done a few depping gigs and have played plenty with the Cool Beans, and some with Funkify. I enjoy depping as you don't have to get too emotionally involved!! The latest project to work alongside grooveshack the covers thing is Mama's Groove, this features Pritee on vocals and utilises the grooveshack rhythm section.
