Edessa are a Cardiff based band which has been developing since originally being conceived on a train from Caerphilly to Cardiff in mid 2006. Singer/Guitarist Andrew Ivins and Bassist Adam Davis started writing and perfecting the band’s songs whilst actively searching for the missing drummer and honing their live sound playing in Cardiff and Swansea through Summer/Autumn 2006. After bassist Adam returned from six months away in Canada in June 2007 the two members fervently began writing songs, playing them live and looking for "that" drummer. The search for the missing member of the band ended in September 2007 when Neil "Swampy" Murphy filled the drummers stool. Heading into the studio in October 2007 the band recorded their first four tracks. Combining the soaring vocal style of Jeff Buckley with the crunching, hard hitting music of Muse, Biffy Clyro, and also the soft glacial touch of Sigur ros, Edessa are happily going against the grain of the current music industry.
