After being in Los Angeles for ten years and being able to only get work in the Spanish Market I became incredibly frustrated. I felt that if I had one more audition where I was asked to read with a heavy accent I'd keep dying inside. You see I am fluent in Spanish/ English, well read, educated, and well it is not often that I get to read for such a character. My frustration also stemmed from being told I wasn't Latin enough which obviously is absurb since I am full blooded mexican and no one can truly define that. I mean come on I exist. So instead of throwing in the towel and waiting for the job to come, I created my own show. The Art of Being (www.myspace.com/theartofbeingcast) is a monologue show in which actors were asked to write a monologue based on their world through their eyes and their perception of themselves. Not an easy task cause not all actors are writers. I was blessed with nine amazing actor/writers who got the concept and were willing to share themselves with an audience. The purpose of the show was to bridge the gap of loneliness in humanity through art. To show that there is always more to everyone than we give people a chance to show us and that we are not as alone as we think we are. This interview is courtesy of WWW.MATT.ORG aka Mexicans and Americans thinking together. First one is in English and the second one is in Spanish. This is the spanish version courtesy of www.matt.orgI'd like to "myspace" meet anyone who believes in themselves, their dreams, and the beauty of the unexpected. People who choose their words wisely for they are a sharp sword that could scar someone eternally if not used carefully. Those finding out who they are and those reveling in the beauty and joy of being JUST AS YOU ARE! But sorry I am not looking for a boyfriend unless you are Adam Duritz or John Cusack :-)! Or can REALLY role play!
