In the spring of 2004, I created Monkey and Me .
It all started with a few burp cloths for myself, and then fueled by a baby boom at the elementary school where I teach art, I whipped out the sewing machine and stitched up a ton of fancy-schmancy burpees and brought them to the 17th Street Farmers' Market in April 2004. My little monkey and I became regular vendors at the market for the rest of that season and before they knew what happened, Monkey and Me was born. Born from the desire to make unusual handcrafted baby items for like-minded new mothers, my business (and my own little Monkey) have grown up at the 17th Street Farmer's Market in Richmond, Virginia. You can likely find me and my handmade children's clothing and baby wares at the 17th Street market on Thursdays throughout the summer. I spend many weekends and craft shows all overe, so keep posted on where we'll be coming up soon.
I have a degree in Fine Art from Virginia Commonwealth University and I am an art teacher for Henrico County Public Schools. I feed my creative hunger through art, sewing, knitting, and stitchery. A member of the Richmond Craft Mafia , when not teaching or chasing my wild toddler, my quest for new and crafty ideas keeps my mind spinning at all hours of the day. All items are created by the artist in a smoke free home. Each item is unique and made with love and care.
