Life is characterised by the constant and often surprising appearance of the new.
Whether we contrive it or not, want it or not; something new is always happening (often imperceptibly, in our everyday lives).
At the end of the day something transpired that we didn't anticipate at the begginging.
The same occurs in life.
This notion of newness (and fatality) means that the new is always attended by a loss; something falling away at the centre, the same time as something new is born.

ABOUT THE ART:
The majority of works on this page are sculptures from driftwood (Found on the West Coast beaches of South Island of New Zealand). I create my sculpture pieces using stainless steel wire and epoxy resin glue...
...I consider this as joining together the native driftwood shapes into forms of my Imagination.
These pieces of Art tend to take on a life of their own after they are created and are captured on film!
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Having lived on the "Wild West" coast of NZ for many years, I have migrated now to the more mild East Coast (Marlborough, to be precise) where I enjoy fine local wines, (Sauvignon Blanc, Reislings, Pinot noir etc), and teach music at the local polytechnic. Much of my time is spent tending to the land on which I live, walking Dogs, feeding Sheep, transporting my demanding teenage son (Haha!) but I do find that I still have time to make and appreciate Art.
