xo is folk metal, gospel punk, ghost rock.
xo is divorce, abortion, depression, debauchery, depravity.
xo is life, therapy, devotion, belief, hope and horror.
xo is Mexican, Armenian, Caucasian / American.
we are based just outside of Los Angeles, CA, and have performed at every local L.A. venue you could possibly ever think of over the last 6 years.
we are guitar, drums, piano and vocals.
we are heart, guts, shit and piss.
we are eyelashes, lips, fingernails, bangs, and sideburns.
we have yet to achieve industrial-strength success.
xo sounds absolutely nothing like what has been commercially successful in the last ten years.
xo believes that it is too easy to successfully sell most contemporary rock
or pop music because the majority of musical acts out there are
overwhelmingly mediocre.
xo would love nothing more than to tour, tour, tour, perform on live television, affect people’s lives through their songs and get drunk
and fuck, get drunk and fuck, get drunk and fuck.
xo wishes to put out records for the rest of our lives that will bring honesty, audacity and tenacity to all who listen
XO has been heavily influenced by the doors, nirvana, pixies, heavens to betsy, Bowie, ENO, Zeppelin, sonic youth, leadbelly, the beatles, leonard cohen, the need, johnny cash, daniel johnston, t rex and many more...
XO enjoys large, raw crowds in tiny, seedy clubs.
XO's favorite local L.A. bands are Ninja Academy, The Glassel Park 3 and Fatso Jetson
rock and roll isn’t dead, just bored.
xo is a three piece from the U.S. who came out of Pasadena, CA in late 1999.
Alin Babasoloukian and Bryan Colby Evans met in high school and gigged around L.A. county as a guitar and drums two-piece for well over five years until they hooked up with another former classmate, Cecilia Enriquez, who would add electric piano and organ to the band's oily, bluesy, grunge-throwback style.
As a trio xo has recorded a 9 song demo with Matthias Schneeberger (Brant Bjork, Joseph Arthur, Nick Olivera) @ Donner & Blitzen in Arcadia, CA.
xo's geurilla style of studio recording, using a tiny budget and an even smaller amount of time, results in an exhilirating example of a southwestern-influenced gospel-metal-punk-folk hybrid of desperate, howling compositions.
Surging prehistoric rhythyms, hacking bi-lingual vocals, filthy seething guitars, and weaving feathered electric piano and organ.
Imagine a Mariachi band playing Nirvana B-sides through a broken AM radio.
