I am here for Dating, Friends and Networking

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Al Pacino (I'm his biggest fan), Angela Bassett (fine to death), Whitney Houston (yes, I am still a fan and would like to ask her, "why?"), Patti Labelle (big voice), Jesus (I'd like to know the truth about heaven and hell, not just what they give you in these fear-based religions).

Music:

Words first, vocals second, and lastly instrumentals. Well thought out poetic words touch me within and often rock my core. Strong vocals make my toes curl, create a chill within, and make my bodily hairs stand at attention. Rockin, jazzin, soulful instrumentals make me sway or dance or cry or simply smile.

Movies:

Live, breath, eat them. American films entertain me, sometimes, while foreign films and docs satisfy my intellect.

Television:

There is not much worth watching except HBO (Just about any series - They have defined good television), and Showtime. I am especially bored with network TV since they took the show that used the voices of that Michelle, Charnese and myself as sharks off the air. If you did not see it -- check out Creature Comforts on DVD.HBO - The Wire (number one) & Tell Me You Love ME Showtime - Weeds & Dexter & Californication,

Books:

Where do I begin. First, I will start with my 2 favorite writers, J. California Cooper and James Patterson. Both on different ends of the spectrum but both excellent writers in their own arena. Anything by either one of them will probably be a hit to me. Below is a list of books that I just could not put down once I began reading them:Growing Up Girl - edited by Michelle Sewell; Fifth Born - Zelda Lockhart; The Living Blood - Tananarive Due; My Soul to Keep - Tananarive Due; Wild Seed - Octavia Butler; The Serpent's Gift - Helen Elaine Lee; The Known World - Edward P. Jones; Surviving the Silence - Charlotte Pierce-Baker; Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neal Hurston; Jim and Luella's Homemade Love - Bertice Berry; The Red Tent - Anita Diamant; On Writing - Stephen King. These are just a few of the books that have made it to my "A" list as being easy reads and very well written.

ANGEL

I often draw parallel the lyrics of a song to my journey in life.  Add good voice to the remnants of truth that a song leaves behind and I am off to church with the "amens."  Words of love a...

Ignorance vs. Naiveté

Sunday I shared an afternoon with Ansel Adams, Anne Lebowitz, and my good friend, Sheila Alexander Reid.  As we walked the rooms of the Corcoran I found pleasure in each exhibit as...
