strangefroot aka Shauna Clarke is one of DC's rising poetry stars. After an invitation to host the Women In The Life Association's Open Mic Night, Shauna has been a co-host (w/Teri Knox), introducing DC's black GLBT poetry community to each other in a "living room" format for years. The "voice that belongs on radio" has been writing since childhood but was first heard as a poet at an NAACP event for the DC chapter in 1997. Since then, Shauna has read at the Kaffa House, every Women In The Life location since 1997, Sisterspace & Books, GW Law School events, Love for Literature 2003, and at Mothertongue as a featured poet and a member of the Anti-Valentine Slam. This sometimes "bitter poet" takes the cliche out of bitter poetry and injects it with "Testify!" You will feel these words.
