jux·ta·po·si·tion [juhk-stuh-puh-zish-uhn] n. 1. an act or instance of placing close together or side by side, esp. for comparison or contrast. + po-ser [po'zer] n. 1. a wannabee; not hacker slang, but used among crackers, phreaks and warez d00dz. Not as negative as lamer or leech.

Sharing songwriting duties and switching instruments (and hats) every 2.7 minutes, Bill Chapin and Ryan McInnis craft mopey ballads and goofy singalongs the whole family can enjoy ... as long as they don't mind the occasional naughty word. This core duo, who met through the Lexington, Mich.-based Bluewater Folk Society, have been jamming since 2003. At most shows they are now joined by the one, the only Nate Dauphinais, who came aboard during the recording of the band's (still unfinished) debut CD, and Jim "Sweet Papa Jimmy" Smith, whose dobro adds a welcome dash of twang.

Band Members: Bill Chapin: acoustic guitars, mandolin, accordion, bass, kazoo. Nate Dauphinais: drums. Ryan McInnis: bass, acoustic guitar, ukelele, harmonica, nose flute. Jim Smith: dobro.
Influences: The Decemberists, Ben Folds, Beck, Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Wilco, Depeche Mode, Jack Johnson, Ween, Tool, Great Lakes Myth Society, Barenaked Ladies, Fountains of Wayne, The Scurvy Pirates, Simon and Garfunkle, Tenacious D, Stan Rogers, Guster, The Pogues, Ryan Adams, Radiohead, The Avett Brothers.
Sounds Like: It is all acoustic. It is largely influenced by folk music, but also takes cues from power pop, alternative rock, grunge, alt-country, funk, punk, heavy metal, hip hop, indie rock, bluegrass, Celtic and just about anything else we've ever listened to and enjoyed. Alternative folk probably sums it up pretty well.It tends to fall into the opposing extremes of extremely serious songs about heartbreak and death ... or extremely goofy songs about beer and shoes.Oh, and sometimes we play ridiculous songs from our youth all acoustified, with keyboard solos done on the accordion and sax solos done on the kazoo.
Record Label: ha ha
Type of Label: None
