MidNight Shems exists since 1998. It is made of five Morrocan youths who have known each other since childhood. A common passion for urban, Gospel and Accapella singing unties them, but their creativity goes miles beyond that into the realms of tradionnal Moroccan 'Gnawa" music. The result is a cohesive and stunning fusion between east and west.
Since their humble beginnigs at school parties and local theatres, MidNight Shems have come a long way, from appearances on prime-time Tv programmes to headlining the "Festival Gnaoua d'Essaouira et musiques du monde" and wining the special jury prize at "Le Boulevard des Jeunes Musiciens".
The MidNight Shems take all of this on their stride and continue producing and writing music in Arabic, French and English to a loving and devoted following. Their music is a sonic message of peace and understanding which they are now spreading in new territories.
