The Reactor Core is Splendid

Six world wars but still one world cup

About Me

The Reactor Core is Splendid underwent several bloody purges of reactionary, deviationist elements until the dear leader had forged a revolutionary hard core consisting solely of himself. Their glorious campaign has utilised guitars, minidisks, various effects and junk to construct rhythmic soundscapes, fractured songs and noise. T(he)y were driven from London but continue guerrilla raids on it from a base in the Medway area. T(he)y have adapted virus like to acoustic formats and have committed several atrocities at various open mic events. T(he)y may also attempt to recruit new disciples or manipulate fellow travellers to their deranged ends. Known actions to date have included a session on Resonance FM, the Rhythm Factory, the Klinker, Scaledown, Subterfuge, the Foundry, the Gluerooms, Easycome, Jorge at the George and the Command House in Chatham. Believed to be developing recordings but this seems to be more five year plan than 45 minutes.I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: My PC can barely handle doing this.
Band Members: The sole member is possibly called Simon and or Williams who may have been involved in The London Electric Guitar Orchestra (LEGO) and has been also linked with its offshoot Kneel Down Like A Saint Gorilla And Stop, although all the above has been denied.
Influences: Sonic Youth, Negativeland, Leonard Cohen, Derek Bailey, Cannibal Ox, My Bloody Valentine, Negativeland, The Fall, The Honeycones, Plastikman, CassetteBoy, AMM, Public Enemy, Elvis Costello, This Heat, Lee Perry, John Cooper Clarke, Dinosaur Jr, el-p (Company Flow), Phillip Jeck, Suicide, Sister Sledge, Birdyak, Melt Banana, De La Soul, Genuinely prefers Sugarbabes to Coldplay.
Sounds Like: Attempting to marry "intelligent" "adult" song writing with elements of punk, plunder phonics, drum & bass, dub, improv and plain ol' noise. All this with less musical ability than the average 14 year old fret mangler. Comments from audiences have included mentions of Ivor Cutler, Tom Verlaine (twice!), the inevitable VU or Syd Barrett and most recently both Mike Skinner and Frankie Goes to Hollywood (?!). Amongst other comments have been "er...interesting", "You looked totally terrified up there", "You're a dark muthaf***er'' and "Not sure if this is genius or just a bit shit". Often however there is simply a chilly silence and a space cleared at the bar with occassionally isolated praise from the solitary, angry looking man in the corner.

"I like driving in my car, even though it's a Skoda" (and MADNESS).

Increasing anxiety and neurosis about car use was rewarded by it breaking down. I knew the clutch was going but now the throttle was (apparently) knackered causing it to stall at low speeds. As I was ...

Saw an old pic of me yesterday in which I was shocked how boyish I looked compared to the George Romero extra I now see lurching in the mirror. Got a phone call from Medway social services to tell me ...
