Abiodun Koya

Abiodun Koya- a lyric soprano was born to a family of five in a small town in the Southwestern part of Nigeria. She started her music career at age six playing violin and classical music at church and birthday events under the mentoring hands of her parents. Since then, she has remained one of the very few African women who sing opera. Abiodun has performed for less privileged children, Heads of states, Senators, Ambassadors, Governors, Congress men and women to mention a few. Highlights of her career were invitations to a black history month performance at the White House,a solo performance at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC, during a celebration of culture event, and a heavyweight championship fight in Madison Square Gardens in New York City. Her runway-modeling career has also had some major highlights while modeling for major designers.Her stage pictures have been featured in several international news magazines while her career in singing, modeling, and poetry has earned her several awards and recognitions. Her talent in acting has landed her roles in comedies and theater productions.Abiodun has her first degree in Business Management and when she is not singing, acting or modeling, she devotes her time and resources to her charity foundation ‘The Elizabeth Foundation’ (www.tef-inc.org), devoted to women empowerment through training and access to capital in Africa. Abiodun Koya is also the founder of “African Artistes Based Abroad” An organization formed to showcase and expose African Performing Artistes living away from their home countries of the African Continent. She has performed and toured with orchestras,choruses and Tenors and was recently announced an Ambassador for peace.
