About Me

.. Multitalented musician Brian Mitchell has gained considerable notoriety in music industry circles and beyond for both his solo career and his high-profile collaborations recording and performing with some of music's most respected artists including Bob Dylan, Al Green, Rosanne Cash, BB King, Levon Helm, and Allen Toussaint. His extraordinary versatility on piano, Hammond B-3 organ, various vintage keyboards and accordion plus his distinct vocal stylings have firmly established him as one of New York City's most gifted and sought after musicians.
Brian has toured extensively around the world, from Tipitinas in New Orleans, The Apollo in Harlem to Ronnie Scotts in London and the Blue Note in Japan. He has appeared in concert halls and at festivals including Lincoln Center in New York, The Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, Jamaica Jazz & Blues Fesival and The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
He has made frequent TV appearances including performances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan OBrian, Austin City Limits and a special appearance on the soap opera One Life To Live. Brians accordion can be heard throughout Bob Dylans version of the Dean Martin chestnut Return To Me on a episode of The Sopranos. Other special collaborations include recording with Christopher Walken in the movie Search and Destroy and accompanying President Bill Clinton, Cher, and Nathan Lane in a rousing version of "Happy Birthday" for his wife Hillary.
Brians work as a composer has been featured in TV, film, and theatre. His original music recorded by Brian's other band House Of Diablo was featured in the Robert Altman movie Tanner On Tanner. He is also in high demand in the recording studio as a session player frequently tapped to lay down tracks on projects by some of today's top artists. His unique approach to performing and recording in the studio was recently the subject of an article in Keyboard Magazine.
A native New Yorker, Mitchell is a mainstay in Manhattan's competitive live music scene. Known for kicking out high-energy performances, alternately raucous and refined, Mitchell's own material features a unique blend of gutbucket blues, funky New Orleans style R& B, quirky latin rhythms, and occasional visits into outer space.
In addition to his various incarnations of The Brian Mitchell Band and The Loisaida Social Club he can also be heard with House Of Diablo (w/ Shawn Pelton) and Mojo Mancini.
House Of Diablo
, an ever changing aggragate, is a unique blend of electronic sounds, dub, improv, and swamp funk that can be heard in dance clubs, exotic parties, and soundtracks for TV and films.
Mojo Mancini - Rick DePofi (reeds), John Leventhal (guitar), Conrad Korsch (bass), Shawn Pelton (percussion) and Brian, is an allstar group of some of New Yorks top session players and producers.
