About Me

born in detroit---now in brooklyn---i compose modern classical music, usually for orchestra instruments plus electronic sounds [lots of electronic sounds] ---married to kathleen supove, pianist --- studied composition privately with David Del Tredici and Joseph Maneri, and at Harvard--- member of the Common Sense Composers Collective---In 1997 composed a new ballet of Where the Wild Things Are, in collaboration with Maurice Sendak and Septime Webre. In 2006-7, it will be performed by the Colorado, Sacramento, Grand Rapids, Lexington and Columbia Ballets---in 2003, composed Women At An Exhibition, for orchestra and electronics with a video by Mary Harron (director of American Psycho) and John C. Walsh---Women At An Exhibition was performed in New York by the American Composers Orchestra, at Carnegie Hall---works have been performed by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two, New Millennium Ensemble, EOS orchestra, conductor Ransom Wilson, Fulcrum Point, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, Seattle Symphony, Paul Dresher Ensemble, Bang On A Can/SPIT Orchestra, California EAR Unit, violinists Jennifer Choi, Todd Reynolds, Tim Fain, Mary Rowell, Colin Jacobsen,Melvin Chen and others. He has also arranged music for John Cale, Kronos Quartet, Siouxsie Sioux, the Mediaeval Baebes, Atau Tanaka, and David Lang. Recordings on Cri/Emergency Music: Rock Steady, Where the Wild Things Are, Dancétudes (Kathleen Supové), My Insect Bride (Common Sense Ensemble), and Your Name Backwards (twisted tutu) new CD, Modern Primitive, performed by Ransom Wilson and The Pack and others, On Koch: Adrenaline Revival (Kathleen Supové), and on Albany:Pattibox {Patti Monson). is now available on the Image Recordings label.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4
