About Me

There is so much to tell about the legendary - world - famous Stamps Quartet, but for now it will suffice to say that the Stamps Quartet is the "oldest" and "most-well-known" Gospel quartet of all time. The Stamps Quartet - began singing four-part harmony in 1924- both secular and Gospel music. In the 1930's The Stamps Quartet was the first quartet to record with RCA Victor and singing "Give The World A Smile", which sold over a million copies. From 1971 through 1977, The Stamps Quartet were backup vocalist for Elvis Presley. Elvis annouced from the stage on many occasions that The Stamps Quartet was his "favorite Gospel quartet". At the time of Elvis' death, a Stamps record was on his stereo, and it remains there today at Graceland. The Stamps Quartet was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1997 and have received numerous Grammy and Dove Award nominations for the "Best Gospel Group of the Year", and "Best Gospel Album of the Year.
They have performed at such prestigious venues as: The Radio City Music Hall, New York City, The Astrodome, Houston, Texas, The Silver Dome, Pontiac, Michigan, Grand Old Opry, Nashville, Tennessee. They appeared in two movies with Elvis Presley, "Aloha From Hawaii", and "Elvis on Tour". Personal television appearances include: The Ralph Emery Show, Crook and Chase, NBC Dateline News - August 2004; television specials: CBS - NBC - TNN - TBN - PBS - GMT. The Stamps are featured on Elvis - The Concert tour. Touring venues worldwide: England, Germany, Hawaii, Singapore, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Paris. The Stamps have appeared and been featured artists on many Gaither Homecoming Videos; and Elvis - He Touched Me videos. There is so much more history pertaining to the Stamps Quartet, spanning over 80 years, and the group continues strong today. Due to the addition of some young talent, the Stamps now have a "fresh-new" sound. The guys like to tease that they were only hired to "carry equipment", but Ed Enoch, owner, manager, and legendary lead vocalist, regularly comments on the tremendous talent and quality singing of this Stamps Quartet.

Band Members: Ed Enoch, owner - manager - lead vocalist for the Stamps Quartet - has been singing and managing the Stamps for over 35 years. From 1971 through 1977, Ed Enoch sang with the "world's greatest entertainer", Elvis Presley at which time, on every concert performance, Elvis introduced Ed Enoch as, "the most powerful and best lead vocalist in the music industry." Ed Enoch is a legendary performer in Gospel Music and his voice today is still as strong and as powerful as it was in the 1970's. Ed and his wife Brenda, reside in Nashville, TN.
In June 2005, Michael Helwig, from Ontario, Canada, began singing Baritone for The Stamps Quartet. Michael has a tremendous vocal range, as evidenced by the Favorite Tenor award he received from the Canadian Gospel Music Association in 1997. Michael's entertaining stage presence is enjoyed by all. Michael and his wife Leslie, reside east of Nashville, with their three children.
February 2006, Joseph Frech, became the Tenor vocalist for The Stamps Quartet. Joseph began singing professionally with the Journeymen Quartet of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and credits much valuable experience to his time with them. Joseph graduated from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia, in May of 2003, and once again lives in Louisville, Kentucky. Joseph's vocal qualities and impeccable tones- far exceeds group expectations.
July 2006, the Stamps Quartet hired pianist Andy Stringfield of Kingston, Tennessee. Andy attended the University of Tennessee, where he studied Journalism and Music. Stamps members were so impressed with Andy's audition, that he was hired on-the-spot, and began playing immediately. Having played alongside industry greats, like Anthony Burger, the Kingsmen, the Florida Boys, The Dixie Melody Boys, The Blackwood Quartet, and many others, Andy has proven himself to be a fixture in southern gospel music.
Once again in March of 2007, the Stamps Quartet found themselves looking for new, young talent, but this time in the bass position. A stellar audition was given by Seth Dillehay of Carthage, Tennessee, and he was hired the next day. Seth won't begin singing with the group until May 18, 2007, because he is still in high school. He will graduate in May, and immediately join one of the top quartets in the industry. With a rich tone and miles of potential, Seth Dillehay will be heard singing gospel music for many years to come.
