The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.
Creative people who can think for themselves and aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in. I also like people who can make me belly laugh.
Van Hunt makes me melt. Someone I met recently told me that Muse makes the kind of music Beethoven would make if he was alive now and making rock and roll-- and I have to agree! I also love Shelby Lynne's sultry tones, the involuntary images provoked by Pink Floyd and Radiohead, the 70's nostalgia of the Stones, and the wail of Etta James. Also, Devics-- obviously. They're good for ghosts.
Whale Rider takes my breath away and leaves me inspired and hopeful. The darkness and eventual light of Jacob's Ladder (by my favorite screenwriter!) is soul-shattering. The Lost Boys is creepy, sexy and funny all at once, and The Price of Milk is like a modern day fairytale surrounded by cultural legends set to the magic of the Moscow Symphony. Session 9 is soooo spooky and mind-bending, I love it! I can't think of a scarier setting than the insane asylum used in the film. Happy Accidents (also written and directed by Brad Anderson) made me laugh out loud. Great characters! Also gotta mention Donnie Darko, Shawn of the Dead, and The Gods Must Be Crazy I & II.
Rescue Me and The Iron Chef.
The Life of Pi.
Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Leonardo Da Vinci and Einstein. I think truly great people are no longer appreciated the way they should be. Anyone who contributes to peace, equality, the intellect, arts or healing, is a real hero. I can't think of a single celebrity who deserves that title.
