PARTY PACKAGE: UnScene runs one of the most accomplished goth/industrial nights in New Jersey. It draws a crowd of anywhere from 450 to well-over 600 people, given the events of the night, age restrictions and size of the venue. The crew of UnScene can not only promote your night, but host and entertain the crowds at your events as well. UnScene is focused on creating a production studio for all artists, photographers and models (as well as band photos) and bringing a BAZAAR in 2007, which will include an assembly of local merchants and DIY designers. now that's some sweet cross-promoting
UnScene was started when Tarilyn Quinn wanted to get into a Bad Religion show in college but had no money. Tarilyn Quinn called up Starland Ballroom (which was Hunka Bunka at the time) and told them she had a Cable TV Show (which she didn't). She asked to interview Bad Religion and they reluctantly agreed. Tarilyn Quinn grabbed Mr. Evil Adam and headed off to Starland. An hour later they were interviewing them. "We had no clue what we were doing. It was probably the longest, most boring interview Bad Religion ever agreed to. I promised I would send them a tape of the show and then realized that I had no show." - TQ
"The next day I sat down at my computer and created an 11 minute long edit of the Bad Religion interview. The day after that I researched how to get a Public Access Show. During the coming weeks I interviewed an Artist named Gillian Povey, who was displaying her Gallery at a Local Library. In the funniest and funnest (?) interview I've ever personally had, I found my second host for future segments. I dragged Gillian everywhere with me...Comic Book Shops, Band Nites, Club Nites... you name it, we were there!
After the first segment aired, I wanted to do more. I found some more hosts and the second segment lauched a couple of months later. My new hosts and I collected huge amounts of footage from various shows and venues, artist interviews and business reviews, plus on-the-street live questions such as "Bob Hope, Funny as Hell and Better Off Dead?"
UnScene features not only big name bands but many underground and/or undiscovered artists, musicians, writers, businesses and anything else interesting through a TV show and live events. I have a plethora of experience interviewing & recording bands such as Bad Religion, Ra, Revis, ADEMA, Spineshank, Powerman 5000 and many others. I now focus more on Gothic, Industrial, Noise, EBM, Synthpop and Dark Wave.
By this time, Tarilyn Quinn needed a promotional item. The 2005 Calendars were soon to be thought up. She met with a local college photographer named Sonya and we created a 1-month plan on how to procude a 12-month calendar.
I posted invitations everwhere for Underground Alternative models to come up every weekend in May 2004. The schedule was PACKED. The weekends were a blast. And we all learned a lot creatively, as well as developed strong bonds with one another. Some of my BEST friends came from that project.In order to thank the models for doing the calendar, Tarilyn Quinn hosted and sponsored a networking party at a local cafe. 50+ people showed up and mingled. Loving every moment of it, she knew this was her new direction. Editing the TV show was set aside. "I was still gathering footage at every event, but finding less and less time to assemble it all."
Wanting to create another event, Tarilyn Quinn put together a Halloween Event at a small production studio. It was to feature 8 live performances from various bands in the area as well as a fashion Show with the familar Wicked Talent models who had been in my calendar.
The venue previously booked to hold the Halloween party had doubts on the pending success of the Event and it was quickly moved to QXTs downstairs in less than 2 days. QXT happilywelcomed the Halloween event. Unfortunetly, the bands were unable to perform in such short notice, but the Fashion Show went down smoothly. The place was packed and everyone had fun.
The next set of events were dedicated to making up the lost time to the bands. From the ashes of all the shite that went down in October/November in Tarilyn Quinn's personal life, PVRGE had risen. "I eliminated any elements in my life holding me back and went full force into promoting events and nights by myself. My entire existence soon revolved around building up my events."
December & January PVRGE were held at a bar in NYC. Getting sick of the traveling, Tarilyn Quinn approached QXTs with the successful statistics from my NYC events. Having hosted the Halloween Fashion Show, it was fairly easy to get a night on Feb 26th, 2005.
PVRGE I at QXTs pulled in more people than ever expected.
PVRGE II wasn't long off. PVRGE II & PVRGE III was just as successful.
UnScene has sponsored, filmed and hosted many events inbetween this timeline, as well.
