Walking on the Mont Royal (especially in the cemetaries) something I rarely get to do anymore, spending hours working on a print and finally getting that last detail just right, studying and practicing Nichiren Buddhism, seeing the look on Quebecers faces when they find out I'm from Van but speak their language Hostie!! my little cousins and my niece (cutest kids ever!!), big cuddle sessions with my cats, Birds - just not the nesting kind, the Vancouver Canucks, the Montreal Canadiens, doing most of my reading while sitting on the can, ancient Japanese culture (especially the Jomon period) and anime (especially Berserk), lamenting the sad state of the world and trying to help in my own little ways.. as in, pissing off silly people in their even sillier cars cause I can get around waaaayyyyy faster on my bike, rain ya bring it on!! buskers in the metro (top 3: the break kids @ lionel-groulx the blind singing troupe @ guy-concordia and the little asian accordian man), conveying my like or dislike for things in very emphatic terms, speaking of which my love for Manchester United and the KNVB and my hate for Chelsea FC and the Portuguese national team!! wearing cool hats whenever possible. swimming in the ocean (especially 3rd beach in Stanley Park), the strange parallels I draw from astrology with my own life, Halloween and all things 'halloweenie", animated film especiallly stop-motion and claymation, the seedy underworld of big cities in their prime (ie. Paris in the 20s 30s & 60s, New York in the 80s), txt msging as opposed to speaking on the phone, in person though is of course always preferable, eating drinking laughing crying sleeping.
Manchester United, Barclay's Premiership Champions '06-'07!! Glory Glory ManUtd!!
Alright, I know I always said Whomever/Whatever/Whenever but I've been getting all kinds of friend requests from peeps I've never met and it's buggin' me out.. henceforth I am requesting that anybody who wants to be added to please first send me a short message, a quick: "hello, i'm so and so, this is what i'm about" will suffice. I'm not trying to be a snob, I just want to know a lil sumthin' about ya before we take the myspace plunge. Obviously this doesn't apply to people I know in real life..
I'd really like to meet this camera!!
Ikeda Sensei

As a former film student who switched to photo I think a list like this might result in my sitting here for hours and hours and hours typing to infinite.. I've got better things to do with my time so I'll just name a few of the directors' whose work I respect most: François Truffaut, Wong Kar-Wai, Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock, Jean-Luc Godard, Akira Kurosawa, Jan Svankmajer, Zhang Yimou, Dario Argento, Pedro Almadovar, Alfonso Cuarón, Tom Tykwer, Spike Lee, Michael Winterbottom, Lynne Ramsay, Julio Medem, Fernando Meirelles, Michel Gondry, Hal Ashby, Patrice Leconte, Bill Plympton, Jim Jarmusch, David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky, Luc Besson, The Watchowski Bros, Quentin Tarantino, The Coppola's (father and daughter), Tim Burton, Todd Haynes, Ang Lee, Terry Gilliam... Oh ya, I almost forgot David Lynch (I wish I could go meditate with that crazy SOB!!)... And people who don't love Wes Anderson films, especially Steve Zissou, I just don't understand them..
I don't have cable anymore (hooray) and, instead, choose to waste my time on the computer. In fact, the last time i remember watching actual tv was during the Golden Globes and the insidious horrendousness of it practically fried my brain! Sometimes I do miss the CBC (best channel ever!) and my old faves Intelligence, Strombo, and Peter Mansbridge are somewhat lacking in my identity as a Canadian. If I need to catch a football (european, duh!!) game, i'll check it @ Olympico. For hockey, all I need to do in this town is look up and there's a Habs game on. Since Arrested Development got cancelled the only thing that's good on American televsion anymore is Jon Stewart

My absolute favourites are: Milan Kundera, Haruki Murakami and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. When I've got a chance and am in the mood for devastating beauty and brilliance I'll read a few chapters of'Life is Elsewhere'. Mostly, though, I've found myself stuck with critical articles on photographic theory (artspeak much..?).. and I just picked up Richard Seager's 'Encountering the Dharma' which i'm very excited about!
Male: James Nachtwey
Female: Amelia Earhart
And..
Monsieur Leonard Cohen: Still the man!!
