FIRST OF ALL.....before you even read this BIO you need to go check out my new band GIRTH at myspce.com/thereturnofgirth. We wrote this record over the summer and have worked very hard to to get to yall in a "timely fashion." CHECK IT OUT!....THERETURNOFGIRTH.COMBorn and raised in Hollywood CA, Miss Deadly began singing in Gospel church choirs, around the L.A. area, at the age of five. These years would greatly contribute to the development of her very unique vocal tone and texture. It was her mother's love of the music of motown, however, that really helped to shape Dena as a writer. "Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Glady's knight, Betty Wright, The Emotions, Anita Baker, Earth-Wind-n-Fire, Smokey Robinson, and Prince are all I know." Her music is a perfect blend of the past and future: refreshing and yet, somehow, very familiar......Now, at last, the PlantLife is proud to present Miss Deadly's solo debut......The Mastery of Love!****Angie Stone...."Dena is an incredible new talent!"****Scott Storch..."Dena's vocal range, writing ability, work ethic, attitude and extremely marketable look have her poised to be the biggest thing the music industry has seen in a long time!"****Vikter Duplaix...."Dena has a rich vocal tone that easily rides the waves of sweet melodies."****King Brit...."Excellent!"****Jack Splash........"Dena is the illest! She sings, writes and sees the world from both sides of her brain. She writes music not just for today but for forever."****An extremely seasoned writer, she has written over 170 songs. *Her music has been featured in film, and television, and she recently won the ISC songwriter's competition, for her song "What We've Lost,' beating out 16,000 competitors for the title. *Her song 'I Don't Eva Wnna Stop," was nominated for the BBC's Radio One awards, "Song of the year" (2005). *Because of her talent and work ethic, she has worked with the likes of Will-I-Am, Scott Storch, DJ Mugg's, Jack Splash, Angie Stone, Tricky, Groove Armada, and Cee-Lo. Miss Deadly is quickly becoming the next great story teller of our times.****Miss Deadly is also a part of the funk/soul band the PlantLife, that has experience much sucess in Europe, Japan, Canada, and Australia. Jack Splash, the mastermind of the group, has produced 9 records for Miss Deadly's solo debut and is now producing for the likes of Cee-Lo, Lauren Hill, Alicia Keys, John Legend, and Joss Stone. In 2005, "The PlantLife" album arrived on the scene and folks quickly got to talkin.....****Pharell...."Here and there I hear new and different shit, but PlantLife really hit it for the long run, they really took it. Shit Ain't Easy!"****Mos Def...."Just what I've been looking for, the new generation of funk!"****Chemical Brothers...."When we first heard the PLantLife, we knew there something different going on....they were pushing buttons of electronic wonder while giving us the sweat and funk of humanity. There's a beautiful techno funk combination happening within!"****Xzibit...."A new world of of funky electric groove music that cats will sample for years to come."****Danger mouse...."On the Return of Jack Splash, PlantLife does'nt follow a lot of boring formulas that are out there today. I love this shit!"****Giles Peterson...."Step aside Outkast, we have PlantLife People!"****Baatin (Slum Village)...."My joint is "Bottle of Hope (save the world)...that's it right there!"****Vikter Duplaix...."Definately some classic songs to fuck up the headboards with!"****URB Magazine..."All I can say is thank the heavens for this record!"****Vibe Magazine..."PlantLife's gumbo of soul-disco and csomic hop spreads a message of love!"****L.A Times...."If you're one of the dance floor disenfranchized, longing for the halcyon days of Prince's Purple Reign, the time has come to get up off that thang....Managing to to be wonderfully inventive, PlantLife rides high on Jack Splash's sensual falsetto and Miss Deadly's sultry inflections, injecting the band's soul music with electronica and hip-hop swagger!"****Rolling Stone...."PlantLife have already been named the next Outkast...this album provides warm funk for all."****Flaunt Magazine...."A postmodern mix of Sly Stone, George Clinton, Andre 300, Marvin Gaye and Prince!"****XLR8R Magazine...."This album explodes into a fast paced, guitar ridden soul party before winding down to melodic whispers about love that complete the flawless course of this album!"****YRB Magazine...."PlantLife is jumpin with everything we like from the days gone by with sweetly mixed production for the now!"****King Brit..."Some futuristic sexy shit!"
