About Me

Welcome to the temporary homebase of monotone.
monotone are KRAFTWERK musician and co-producer Henning Schmitz and cologne based DJ and Producer Thorsten Vogel, with Sitara on vocals.
Instead of presenting already released songs we use this site as place to present unreleased and/or unfinished material - so feel free to comment on it!
"Calling" and "Inspiration" are two songs we are just working on. There are no plans to release the songs on record yet, because we decided not to go the regular way (record deal - record release - promo - concerts), but to perform them only live. So the arrangements, the mix and the vocals are not produced in a way the songs could or should be released, but the samples might give you an first impression!
After many requests we added snippets of two more songs of our more recent work: "Set Me Free" and "Let Your Mind Go".
After a pretty long time without uploading any new songs we decided to upload the first song of a series of new material... "Map In My Mind" It'a a pretty unusual song for us, as it's a nice little poptune. I think we had Morricone in our mind when starting production...! ;)

Band Members: Henning Schmitz: production

Henning Schmitz is most known as member of german pioneers of electronic music KRAFTWERK. But he has also a big reputation as sound engineer and producer of all kinds of music. He is just setting up a new studio in Cologne, which also will be the new homebase for our work.

Thorsten Vogel: production

Thorsten Vogel works as DJ since sixteen years and produces music since nine years. As DJ he shared the decks with artists like Touché (Wiseguys), Alex Gopher, Kid Loco, Freqnasty, Rae & Christian, Thomas Schumacher (Electrochemie LK), Tocadisco and supported bands like Moloko, Freestylers, Morcheeba, Nouvelle Vague, Lamb, Sneaker Pimps, Remy Shand, Amp Fiddler, Hooverphonic, Muse, Christina Milian and Kylie Minogue.

Sitara: vocals

Singer and songwriter Sitara is known from countless live performances and several releases all over Europe and is living in Cologne. She not only sings and writes songs, she also takes care of the visual interpretation.
