About Me

Hey Folks,
I started this page to present some of my reedits and other productions from former projects, which have nothing to do with my mainproject MONOTONE . If you are interested in electronic downbeat take a look at the Monotone page, where you can find more recent songs from my work with Kraftwerk musician Henning Schmitz and singer Sitara.
Being a DJ for now 18 years I started to reedit and remix some tracks I always loved, but which could use some treatment for the dancefloor. You can find some tracks ranging from Disco, Neo-Soul to latin….
"(Gimme the) Sunshine - Maruo & MM Remix"
While talking about re-editing songs we dearly love but which could use a little lift up, Maruo told me about this beautiful song and played it to me. Quite surprised, because of it's timeless quality and the fact that I used to play a different version of the song in the mid-nineties, we decided to give it a re-edit treatment... What you can hear right now is the (first) finished version of the song.
"Joe Cuba - MM Edit no. 1"
This song was my first attempt to make a re-edit of a song I can't play too often, because it's just too soft. So I added several layers of drums, changed the speed and rearranged it...
The re-edit is not finished - not even the mix is right! I just uploaded it here to play it to a friend (Cheers to Maruo!!!).
"Bilitis – MM Edit"
In the mid to late nineties I used to play the original version of this great disco track pretty often. After the years I went back to it and tried to give it a little bit more groove and tightness…
"Nachtfieber – MM Edit"
As collector of strange german cover versions of then popular songs I definitely had to do a remix of one of these songs… The german version of the Bee Gees hit was always a crowd favourite. I hope that the new tighter version with lots of new beats and percussions makes it even more accessible.
"Peter Gunn Mambo – MM Edit"
A while ago I started to play around with several loops of old funk and latin drums and percussions I sampled, without a direction. While playing my most recent set (as of 09/08) a friend told me that he really liked a mambo version of the Peter Gunn theme I was playing that night. After getting home I tried to combine this song with the percussion edit I did – and it worked. It’s a little bit rough, but definitely working. (Thanks Karsten!)
"Heroine"
This is no reedit I did, but one of my alltime favorite tracks! Produced together with Tom Dams (very well known through his work with his projects KARMA and SOLAR MOON as well as producer for artists like KLAUS SCHULTZE) and the australian singer Julia Messenger (WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTIONS, KLAUS SCHULTZE and several other bands and projects). Recorded in 1999 Heroine was one of my early cooperations with Julia and has an extremely dark, but mind-pulling atmosphere - especially through the slowed down beats, the string arrangement and Julia's vocals...
