Mhtera Falaina Tyflh is the music composing, recording and performing project of Diama, guitar player in bands like Reladi, Tsopana Rave and others. The specific project's aim is to incarnate musical ideas that have been formulated over a time period of 10+ years, and that have not been recorded or performed since they were conceived.
Mhtera Falaina Tyflh [metehrah fahlehnah tee-flee] translates into "mother whale blind", a self-mocking band name, refering to the main songwriter's weight, his protective mannerisms, as well as his obsession with The Great Whale that rescued Pinocchio, hosted Jonah and travelled along to Stereo Nova's monumental song. It is The One that Brian Eno praises in his masterpiece composition "Mother Whale Eyeless", a definitive source of the project's name.
The band members of MFT are not fixed, since everybody is involved in many other important bands and projects of the Athens' music scene (if there is such a thing... whatever!).
Most of the songs are sung in greek.
MFT has completed and distributed most of the limited 400 copies of the promo e.p. entitled "Plankton e.p.", which was recorded at Fab Liquid Studio from December '06 to May '07, with Ottomo as a sound engineer. There are a few left, so contact us to get your free copy!
That's all! (for now)
Diama.
