I'm gonna need a bucket, a paint brush, and ten pounds of salt. Lance, get his pants.

Hope's just a rope to hang myself with.
We are all trapped in prisons of the mind, it's a hard
sensibility but we'll see it through in time, but when
words come between us noiseless in the air, believe me
I know it's easy to despair--don't
Tonight I'm talking to myself--there's no one that I
know as well, thoughts collide without a sound,
frantic, fighting to be found.
And I've found things in this life that still are real
A remainder refusing to be concealed.
And I've found the answer lies in real emotion
Not the self-indulgence of a self-devotion.

Let me bang my head against the wall if I want to.

I've decided to get rid of this because it's becoming ridiculous. Too many bands. I couldn't care less about remembering to add every damned band I'm into so that YOU can decide if I'm "scene" enough for you. I'm also over the nine million "messages" from people who say, "I see that you're a fan of ___________; you should check out my brother's dog's sister's band." Damn your mass emails! No, I DON'T like your brother's dog's sister's band. . . Well, actually, I MIGHT, but I've got better things to do than go listen to them EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SEND A MESSAGE.
So bottom line on the music thing. . .
I'll give anything a chance, but I can't guarantee I'll like it. Everyone says they like a little of everything, but no one really means it. For the most part, I DO, but there are genres that make me want to punch holes in walls. I'm secure enough to say that I think Coheed & Cambria is one of the worst musical endeavors to be undertaken in the last twenty-five years. It's fine if you disagree, but you won't change my mind. . . If I want to hear that sound, I'll put a cat in a damned microwave. I'm also secure enough to admit that I'll always be a Fall Out Boy fan. I loved them before (thank you, Melissa), and I'll continue to do so. Just because they've had a couple hits doesn't mean the band suddenly sucks. Who joins a band to spend forever in a garage with no one listening to them? They did what they set out to do, and good for them.
I'm mostly a fan of whiny emo stuff (I said it so you don't have to), some punk, some hardcore, oldies, and melodic rock like Better Than Ezra and Barenaked Ladies.
I like what I like because I like it and not because you or any of your "cool" friends say I should.
Almost Famous, The Butterfly Effect (shut up, I REALLY liked it!), Get Shorty, Be Cool, Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2, Oceans Eleven, Oceans Twelve, Donnie Darko, Wicker Park, Cellular, Field of Dreams, Boondock Saints, Finding Nemo, Fight Club, Van Wilder, The Chumscrubber, The Usual Suspects, American History X, Blow, Rounders, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Buying the Cow, Out Cold, Mallrats (or anything by Kevin Smith, really), Office Space, Suicide Kings, Slapshot, Seven, A League of their Own, Reservoir Dogs, 50 First Dates, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Garden State, Requiem for a Dream, Magnolia, Mulholland Dr., Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Skeleton Key, Napoleon Dynamite, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Wicker Park, Cellular, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, I Heart Huckabees, Shaun of the Dead, Wedding Crashers, The 40-Year Old Virgin, Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, Waiting, Identity, Crash, Little Miss Sunshine, A Scanner Darkly. . . I really could go on and on, so if I didn't name it in here, that doesn't mean I don't like it. I'm really just too lazy to try and keep up with this. Ask me if it's that important to you.
Entourage (Let's hug it out, bitch), Las Vegas, South Park, Friends, Joey, Scrubs, Nip/Tuck, My Name Is Earl, Kitchen Confidential (that show was FUUUUUNY!!!! which is why they cancelled it), Coupling (the BRITISH version), That 70's Show, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Tourgasm, Lucky Louie, VH1's Driven, I Love the 80s/90s/Strikes Back, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, The Loop, Conviction, Free Ride, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Book of Daniel (another good one gone), American Dad, Family Guy, Head Cases (yeah, I know they cancelled it, but I LOVED the two episodes I got to see. . . BASTARDS!! Give it a whole season before you cancel it to replace it with another stupid reality show!!), Four Kings (aaaaaaaaaand another good one down the drain), The Office, Heist, Thief, House, Teachers, LOVE MONKEY!!!!!!, House, Boston Legal, My Boys, Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip, Standoff, 30 Rock, Twenty Good Years, The Class, Heroes (my God, that show is cool!). . . I love Chuck Palahniuk, and I don't care what you think of me because of it. Anything by Dan Brown (Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code), Aaron Karo (check out www.aaronkaro.com), Kurt Vonnegut, or Robert Ludlum (The Bourne Trilogy, The Scarlatti Inheritance), Chuck Klosterman. Logan's Run, Catch 22, Player Piano, The Boys of Summer. . . there are so many. Truly, anything but romance novels. I was the weird daughter who stole my dad's spy and war books instead of my mom's love stories. If it's exciting, high tech, psychologically engaging, intellectual, historical, poetic, deep, or intelligently funny, I'll read it.
My mom. . . Shut up. I'm serious.
