About Me

Regarded as a part of the next generation of mastering engineers, Nathan began his musical career as a cellist performing with symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles around the country. After developing a knack for classical/jazz engineering, and a reputation early on as being the guy to go to for quality recordings, Nathan transferred to the Cleveland Institute of Music where, in addition to the intense musical studies, he developed his ability to listen critically, adjust to his sonic environment, and ultimately obtain great results in his recordings.

Nathan’s engineering and editing talents were quickly snatched up by Telarc International, known for its innovation in audiophile recording techniques. His collegiate career allowed him the distinct privilege of working with artists such as Dave Brubeck, Ray Brown, Yo Yo Ma, Diana Krall, The Atlanta/Cleveland/Boston Symphony Orchestras, Andre Previn, and Peter Paul & Mary.Nathan methodically honed his skills at several mastering studios in New York, including Classic Sound and The Hit Factory Mastering, working with artists like John Mayer, John Zorn, Garbage, Edie Brickel, and Moby. Now a senior mastering engineer at The Vault Mastering Studios, some of the clients on his roster include, The Fray, Staind, Sinead O’Connor, The Cloud Room, Sylvie Lewis, The Epochs, Charlie Hunter, Towers of London, The Spies, Cyrus Chestnut, The Bravery, The Cinematics, The Strays, Default, Meese, TVT Records, Atlantic Records, Sony Records, Epic, Virgin Records, Blondie, Le Meu Le Purr, Exotic Records, Dave Douglas, Joe Jackson, Reuben Rogers, The Bowman Sisters, Kat Parsons, Aberdeen City, Nettwerk Records, Jonah Smith Band, and Ivy.
His commitment to the highest quality of mastering, an emphasis on precision and technology, superb and timely service, and his devotion to understanding his clients music have all contributed to the expansion of his client base throughout the country. His understanding of the musical environment and the challenges facing today’s independent artist is a serious plus. On top of all that, he brings to the table serious mastering chops, musical creativity, and technical expertise, rounding out a mastering package that’s hard to ignore; a fact that artists, engineers, producers, and labels are quickly discovering.
